Has the organiser ridden the route himself and was this just a way to prove he is the best without even competing 🤔
-

The insta says skinny has ridden it. People will queue up for next year I guess, it may get a reputation! Are there any other examples of an ultra race were everyone scratched? There was Tour Divide that year of the snow, but I think, without checking, that even then some finished?

Was my first thought, all dnf is perfect advertising, and next year will have all the stars of the sport.
-
• #55
Nah I never rode it. Just used komoot to make a route.
-
• #56
And then you saw the "there are several segments where you will have to push your bike" thing, and said to yourself that this will do?
-
• #57
Komoot said they were premium ridable gravel.

Tempted to put the gpx into komoot and see what happens.

Where's the thread bump @skinny ? Your marketing team needs a kick up the butt ;)
This is happening again. A little earlier this year. Sep 9th.
I've got leave approved to ride. Yippee! Will it be hotter? Will I make it more than a day along the route? Will anyone finish?
I'm hoping that by not competing with a skinny northerner to win the AAA trophy this year I'll have fresher legs this time. Unfortunately I've done zero mountain-biking so it might be a shock to the system all the same.
Bit less time in the Gavarres this year apparently but I'm yet to see the route changes.

Michael Fidorra almost done it seems.
Richard (Richy) Poynter finished the other day.
I think that takes the total finishers to 8.

If you want something substantially easier but still tough and very beautiful. The grrl and I both finished the first edition of El Piri and it looks like @skinny is running it again next year. No, I'm not on his payroll, the bump on the Girona thread reminded me to check the tracker :)

Love that he shouts out to Pantera for providing the soundtrack!

Yeah, I noticed the titles/subtitles too.

On more than one occasion, this challenge started to resemble Royal Marines training more than a bike ride lolol

Just checked dates, June next year yeah? Wouldn't have minded crossing paths with some of you idiots (will be there around March). Btw, fair play hippy you & your partner both finishing that, can't even begin to imagine suggesting this to the missus...

''The event does not feature any hike-a-bike. However, depending on a rider's ability and gearing, short sections of pushing might occur uphill.'' top trolling right there on website skinny ;-)

Just to be clear, El Piri (https://www.lesperitdelbikepacking.org/el-piri-2025) is a much easier (but still challenging) gravel event that we both finished.
L'esperit de Girona is the MTB event that only eight of us have finished that is written about in the Bikepacking link I posted 6h ago.

Haha thanks.
We stopped running spirit of Girona event, we now only run El Piri, June 2025.

I was the first finisher in the first edition (I quit first :D) and I finished the second edition.
El Piri, my partner and I both finished.
