  • Interesting; thanks.

  • @paininthe is right, half a ton only equates to four fat blokes (to use a real world conversion unit), pretty much any car could tow that. To do so comfortably over long distances I would suggest a 2l diesel for low-end grunt, it's only getting the trailer rolling that requires much power.

  • I think we need to talk about this.

    https://youtu.be/rLtFIrqhfng?feature=shared

  • It's some absolutely appalling work. The badge looks like a knock off jewelry brand and the font probably deserves a significant rant from @Regal

    0/10, would not recommend.

They're also launching the rebrand with no new vehicles in sight. WTAF.

  • Don't drag me into this. 😂 It's the death throes of a brand that hasn't known what it's supposed to be for decades. Unfixable.

  • This is my point... Jaguar have been shit for decades
(F-Type aside as I do think they're quite nice)... I'm sure the XK120, E-Type and XJ220 were all seen as being wildly "out there" when they arrived and this isn't the first time they've made a significant change to their logo and font.

I'd argue the font for the last two logos looked shit also...

I just think the whole thing is hilarious because it's obviously awoken a torrent of abuse from inbred incels like Andrew Tate and his fans... people who couldn't really give a shit about Jaguar until they've had this opportunity to use it as a tool to bash liberalism and the they / thems.

The advert, aside from being a bit meh, is largely inoffensive, just a bit colourful and as stated we don't even see a car in it so it's really just a bit of a hype builder...

The little teaser we've seen of the new car actually looks cool, I'm excited to see it.

  • 1935-1945 was unfortunate.

  • For me it's how they deleted all their previous Insta posts. Actually scrap that, my favourite bit is them replying to posters with nonsensical and overly dramatic statements.

  • I love it, they've been trying to sell cars to that dickhead cohort forever and I reckon they've just thrown their hat at it so might as well wind them up for the massive publicity they're getting and then pitch the new cars to a more liberal target market!

My favourite was some idiot on IG comments telling the world how he was thinking about buying an XK and would no longer be doing so after this atrocity...

Yeah mate, Jaguar are going to be really upset about you not buying a secondhand car that was discontinued a decade ago :)

  • I think we need to talk about this.

    For Millennials innit.

As a Millennial, I actually don't hate it. The old brand was very tired, it needed something.

  • Let's not.

    There I said it.

  • What has been shit about jaguar?

Also this doesn't affect jaguar classic with there continuation models.

Are there any Jag owners on here? Remember people here moaning how shit the posh spice range rover was, yet sales figures showed how wrong commenters were.

  • No one should ever really buy a jag.

They look incredible most of the time but like an Alfa it’ll be stationary by the side of the road most of the time

  • I really want to argue with you...but having owned a few yeah. Going to a Jag garage/specialist about random leaks and told they all do that

X type was good, Jag built better engines than ford both the diesels and the petrols.

S type was good but with both they had low re sale value. I had the diesel twin turbo I got for free. Most valuable thing was the engine to go in range rovers as they can snap cambelts if not changed. Easy on the s type not so on the range. Beautiful zf autobox that is expensive to service.

The fully expensively restored xj, series 1 that broke down a lot. Found out why it was so cheap.

Xf was good tho. Especially the super charged ones.

  • S-Type
    X-Type
    XF-Type
    XE-Type
    XK8
    XK
    Last generation of XJ
    F-Pace
    E-Pace
    I-Pace

All deeply (thankfully) forgettable and mundane.

  • I also don’t hate it.

I remember reading something about their adverts being aimed not at people who will buy the specific car now but at people who will buy the brand when older and wealthier.
Hence advertising £80k cars in a film for teenagers.

  • Don’t get me wrong. I love a jags aesthetic.

The s type, xk, x type all lovely looking cars.

I’d have an a type in a heart beat, they look stunning and I bet very comfy. But could it cope with 200 miles per day.

  • Disagree about the modern s type, X type, xk, xf and xj.

But that is the thing, what do see as not mundane?

  • Think you mean e type ;) e typed were a cheap car, people forget that and needed lots of servicing at short intervals 200 miles a day would mean servicing every month. Then you are in a 60s interior. No power steering, driver aids or nice things like cruise control air con and a quiet interior

  • I’ve often considered an x or s type for work. But just don’t think it could hack the mileage.

  • I just feel like there are so many more appealing cars from so many other manufacturers that fill those segments...

Alfa Romeo / Lexus / Audi / Mercedes / BMW / Volvo all more interesting and desirable.

Obviously subjective but then so is the new branding :)

  • Petrol or diesel?

X type is the cills rusting, everything else is ok and do able. Get one with leather interior heated/cooled seats working air con and heated screen
Petrol are ulez ok bit road tax can be the highest

Quite fancy an s type type t for the v8 fun of it. As I said servicing and belts seem to last well

  • Audi Merc and BMW more interesting is quite selective. ;)

  • I don't entirely disagree... they have lots of duds too in fairness.

I'd rather a Subaru Legacy or Honda Accord to an S or X Type though anyday.

  • But neither of those looks as good as the s type
