  • I'd like some details if they're in Bath, i have friends and family there that can collect.

  • oh wow! maybe a missed the deets but where is this going to be? cant wait to visit

  • Hey, just DM’d a link to photos.

  • I got in touch with Northampton’s own Lowther Loudspeakers to talk about possible promo in the shop and now this has happened.

2.1m tall, 4m folded horn, single driver weirdy beardy audio esoterica has arrived. Acoustic treatments to follow.

  • Fuck yeah - love a bit of full range driver action - especially in a back loaded horn

  • Hello guys, I'm currently in the process of sorting my shed/man cave.
I'd like to get a basic audio visual set up installed when it is wired for power.
Audio is my main priority however I was thinking of using a cheap AV receiver as a hub for some speakers inside the shed and then use the receiver for some outdoor garden speakers too.

I'll include an image of the space I have to work with to fit the avr. My living room onkyo box is also included in the image and I'll be using that as a rough size guide.

As you can see I have a slight size issue. So if anyone can provide any solutions to smaller receiver set ups ect.
I'm mainly interested in getting the shed sorted for Audio over visual if that helps

  • Yeeeeessss!

    How do they sound?

  • @hippy can we merge the two hifi threads, and maybe put “hifi” in the title of this one?

  • Honestly not overwhelming so far especially wrt resolution but the drivers are brand new and need to break in a bit. The scale is remarkable - in this massive space it doesn’t sound like there’s a hifi over there in that corner, it really fills the space wherever you’re standing. I would like to hear more treble tbh but maybe that will come. It takes a while to settle in to any new speaker in my experience.

  • Awesome, you will be wearing truckers caps indoors and bringing out your signature line of Denon Carts with compressed waste coffee ground bodies next :-)

  • Yes, a bit annoying all that. I don’t think pleading that I was into it before it was cool is going to help any.

Might as well go fully at it, roll my beanie up and start working on an African jazz collection.

  • Lol wut?
They look amazing, but also a bit challenging.

  • Space looks beautiful, industrial spaces with arched windows always get me.

  • Thanks and yeah challenging is right. If I play my cards right the 4’ voigt horns might be coming my way.

  • I wonder what they would sound like with a digital setup and room correction?

  • No. it needs to be a Manley Labs passive equaliser, none of that 01011001101001 digital nonsense.

  • Yes! Those look suitably bonkers.
Perfect to start a club where a dozen dudes meet up and play a single song on a different theme each month.

  • Literally every item in the pictures on this page so far are nonsensical. 100% approve 😀

  • And yet I like the sound from this system quite a lot more. System scaling is hard.

  • Nelson Pass is a genius.

I've always wanted to build a pair of these

  • This looks amazing. Sorry if I missed it earlier in this or the coffee thread, but where are you? Looks like a railway building as well?

  • It’s near Daventry, Northants. It’s the Royal Ordnance Depot which was an armoury / barracks / prison / hospital for the Napoleonic Wars. Built at the very start of the 19th century

  • Amazing space. Reminded me of this spot in Cantebury. Wish I was closer. Good luck!
