thought i'd give cerys matthews a blast sunday morning, started with a couple of great tracks then some talking head with word soup diarrhoea came on and spouted some shit for 45 seconds and just had to turn it off. unbearable. unlistenable and down right unintelligible.
stuff like " floating in a mindstorm of ambient dialecticism " .... not their exact words but you get my drift.
i had no idea what they were bumbling on about and i'm pretty damn sure neither did they.

Never ever do that - unbelievably dreadful. Double the irritating voice/utter nonsense of MAH, with none of the great music - think she's actually employed to drive listeners away so they can shut 6M down.

they need to be a bit more like radio 3 where the presenter just gives simple background on the track and then plays the ruddy music. i think her musical taste is great just spoilt by the waffle.
are they aiming for the 21 year old just coming down from a night on e's and whizz tripped out hippy pseudo intellectuals market
oh god i'm sounding like one of them talking heads now ! send help.

Very much this.
She used to read poetry over instrumentals, it was not my cuppa then and wouldn't be now, but some must enjoy it for it to persist.

Looking forward to Gilles Peterson's inevitable Quincey Jones retrospective...

Know Your Enemy being played by MAH.
Hopefully has been & will continue to be the opener to every show today.

Brilliant.

Craig Charles weekday; used to be my switch on point , possibly 15min before 1 o'clock but all that nonsense about slippering - especially when you've listened to the same feature where the delivery is just who was wrong and who was right about the year..

Agree. Straight to NTS at 1pm in our workshop

I need to twiddle the work radio more. Might pop to greatest hits 60s , no ads and perfectly acceptable in someone else's property

Must've ran out of years by now no?

About that time and Sundays at work, I usually check schedules and find Don Letts, afrodeutsche, Scherelle etc. Bonus is to be able to skip past the news

Fair enough, I'm just the knob who listens on dab only to hear them say six times an hour to "listen on sounds"

Nick Grimshaw and Cerys Matthew’s can get in the bin. All the others a great. Also the timing is really relevant. Jamz and Giles on a Saturday, aught and guy garvey on Sunday 👍🏼

Watch out... Zoe Ball incoming...

Grimshaw has to go. Have been cueing up MAH from the day before on the sounds app to replace him.

thought to myself ‘oh, they’re actually playing something interesting and a bit challenging’
Then I realised it was just the bread maker on its ‘knead’ cycle
Just read this from 7 ffin years ago hahaaa

Who’s MAH?
-
• #1122
Mary Anne Hobbs.
Or an AI which has been trained on her voice to describe absolutely everything as 'incredibly special'.
-
• #1123
Lol. Had a scan through some previous pages - I had so much anger towards 6 music in those days!
I do miss that bread maker though...

• #1124
Ah. Yes. I realise she’s a pro, plays great stuff, super knowledgeable, but what a dreadful namedropper. It really grates.
-
• #1125
Yeah, but she’s no Guy Garvey. Did he tell you about the time he had lunch on the moon with the Dali lama, Nelson Mandala and Charlie XCX? Clang
It’s not all bad on 6 they just played this https://youtu.be/kTzlN5I2vek
The whole album is good to be fair.
