Dynamo Lights

I definitely ran a 15mm TA version SP with a QR adapter on my old Kinesis 4SD.

This is good news about the SP one as I’d seen it online but wasn’t sure if I’d be dropping in quality because it’s a lot less money.
I’m looking for reliability over anything else really as I’m mainly touring.

+1 for SP. I’ve been running the PL-7 for upwards of 10,000km with no issues. Though of course they’ll probably pack up now but ya know.

The new SON looks interesting.

Saw it in person at Bespoked Mancs, very cool. They had a bunch of fork integration bits there too if memory serves.

Any details on this yet? They've been showing pictures of it for 12 months now

There is a catch: only works with the SL connectors in the fork. Pretty rare outside of bespoke. Folks like Idworx have that.

Edit: on some pictures it seems they have also one with the coax plug in preparation...

You could probably glue the SL connector to your fork dropout with a little modification

That explains why 32h SON SL dynamo hubs are currently discounted by SJS!

Does anyone have or used a Supernova MY99 DY, is it any good? Does it pair with the E3 6v rear?

Am also looking at this, like the idea of brighter lighting. Can't see why it wouldn't work with the E3 rear. Also need to find out if it works upside down. Might drop them a mail.

Not sure it would as beam has a pattern. Why would it need to go upside down?

According to sjs it can't be used upside down. I intend to mount it under my wahoo blendr mount. Off the go pro mount. Looks like I'd need to make some type of additional bracket.

User @amey I thought the 6v could be used by either and the 12v was e-bike specific.

I’d be doing the same I think you can get a straight bar to mount with.
Having looked at some of the pictures online. I found something a while ago that looked like it’d be simple as the mount for the light is more behind than below like others.

Ah I'm on a stupid integrated trek cockpit. Further reason to switch that out for regular round bars.

Sinewave beacons, worth the money?

I’m on the same but the bracket will come off. Think it’ll be easier than the L mount I needed for my E3 triple.

I am in the market for a light for a Bikepacking MTB. Something that

1. mounts nicely on the side of a Pelago front rack
   
2. bright enough for off-road riding
   
3. best light output at mid-range speed
   
4. bonus: USB charger
   
   

On paper, it seems like the Sinewave Beacon V2 ticks all the boxes. I really like that you can also run it from a power bank and not just from the dynamo.
Is it bright enough?

The SuperNova M99 DY Pro seems amazingly bright but has no other features.

KLite gets good reviews and seems to tick all the boxes too but I can't get myself to pay that much money on something that looks like I 3D printed it at home.

Should I wait for the SON Ladelux?

I run that light on my commuter and I think it's the best bang for a buck dynamo light but I want something with more power.

Ah cool, me too. Makes sense then w more lumens in the woods/mtb.
