Woken up at 1am this morning by Waily screaming his head off. Get downstairs and his nemesis (big white bruiser we call Polar Bear) had helpfully decided to stare at him through the cat flap. Managed to scare off polar bear but not lock the cat flap in time for Waily to bolt out after him. Queue proper cartoon tumbling about, tearing strips off each other and me having to run out in my dressing gown to spray water on them to break it up. Cheers lads.

Q: Cat insurance costs/ provider.
I need to insure Loki. He is young and has no known existing conditions. What's typical premium & good providers?
He'll be jabbed promptly then snipped in the not too near future.

I wonder if there is anyone on here that has benefitted from pet insurance. My experience is that ypu pay a lot, and when you are roughly insured for just above the amount that you pay on a yearly basis. I'd love to hear that's not the case though, but here in NL certain insurance companies have been called out being close to a scam before. And you'd be better off just putting some money aside.

AI reckons £150 which if he has to have major surgery seems like appropriate insurance. Obvs if Loki remains healthy and trouble free the insurance doesn't pay back, but that's the whole point.
-

What I'm afraid of, is that the insurance in case of heavy surgery will only cover a certain amount, say 120% of tha annual fee that you paid.

Just paying for the peace of mind really, as with most of these 'optional' insurances.
Friend had a £4k bill for investigation into a hip issue that involved x-ray/anesthetic and MRI/anesthetic and a few an incidentals. The vet cartels can soon rack up the bills.

I think any tiny print that said that would make me choose another insurer.
-
• #13942
But how much was covered then?
-
• #13943
He's with Pet Plan, they covered it all. His monthly payments are nearly £50 though.
-
• #13944
Well I guess that's reasonable. Then again 4k is crazy, but you love your pet of course.

collecting this little goblin from the cat shelter tomorrow morning. Currently named Buffy, which is not an acceptable name to me, but my smallest kid keeps referring to her as Buffin, so Buffin it is. Very exciting times.

Some people are Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans. And that’s fine, but I don’t want to be mistaken for one myself.
