Late to the party on this one, but I think Panerai is one of those brands where you have to go with your own heart, as group-think is usually against them. It's an easy target as it's not a "sensible" brand - they don't retain value amazingly well, I've never been convinced by their QC, have heard of some bad experiences with customer service and it's a style that not everyone appreciates or can wear. However, if you go in with your eyes open (and they've got 8 year warranty now?) and not looking to flip it, then it could be right for you. I had a 177 and loved it. I think the Quarantas are a good move for Panerai as it makes the brand more accessible. I'm not wild about the bracelets though - I'd be putting that on a strap straight away if that was me but YMMV.

Thoughts - I think it’s a lot of watch for the price but sort of wish it was 42 rather than 40..
