What's the anticipated lifespan of a chain on a brompton? I've just had mine serviced and chain replaced but I think it's only had 1,000km for some reason I'd expect more considering it's a hub gear so not being stretched like a "normal" deraileur would. I'm not good at cleaning the chain though and indulge in the occasional bit of gravel on it
Can't give approximates, but in my experience, around half of that of other bikes I do way more mileage on. The drivetrain being so close to the ground seems to attract the worst of muck and grime. That and the fact that it's a commuter, so more rain etc.
that makes sense, i wonder if waxing the chain will get a bit more life out of it. the cost is trivial but it seems a waste of material to get through a chain a year
