Does anyone have a good solution for the Exposure Blaze rear light? Mine is constantly getting misaligned during use; a big pothole, my thighs, or some other knock will impact it in such a way that it's seldom facing behind me when i've finished a ride. The Exposure mount isn't good enough it seems. Does anyone have an alternative?

Is there a current consensus about the best bang for your back on a light that can deal with illuminating pitch black roads or bikepacking at night?
I need something that goes slightly beyond just being seen, but nothing quite as mega as the top end of the Exposure range, as I would just double up with a headtorch if this was going to be the case.

Mid range Exposure? Toro or Race models?
-
• #5757
I saw the Toro and it does look ideal, but it feels like £355 worth of a light is probably more than I need - I was wondering if there was something slightly less serious that will do in a pinch.

Oh wow, that’s far more than I paid for it (admittedly) a good few years ago, didn’t know they’d appreciated that much! I’m sure I picked one up for £150/£180 😮
Moon lights often get reasonable reviews, but don’t know if they do a “to see” variety. Or Cateye volt/bolt?

Exposure light prices just spiked with the new gen release, was looking recently at the Race Mk17 at about £185 but the new Mk18 is out and it's back to full RRP, £285 ouch.
Depending on expectations and speed, a Sirius can get you around some dark lanes and woods.

I got a Lumintop B01 of Aliexpress and has been perfect for overnight audax and nighttime offroad riding. Very long battery life and replaceable batteries too.
Has a cutoff beam so it doesn't startle drivers... for whatever that is worth -

maybe a bit controversial but I've been using a Halfords own brand 'advanced' front light for years.
I use it regularly during winter commutes on unlit lanes.
it has a really good range of modes, great battery life with a really useful indicator on the top, can be used as a power bank if required, and even has an optional remote switch so can be mounted on forks or on a rack but still switched between modes.I think mine is the old 1000 lumen version.
looks like they've just refreshed the entire range. -

in fact, I just had a look and the new range has user replaceable batteries which makes them even more useful, and also comes with loads of different mounts options.
the top of the range 1800 lumen one is £60 -

I can second a Moon (Meteor Vortex I think) as a very decent front battery light to see by. And I think mine was c.£40/£50. Got a Moon something rear as well, for when I'm not living the dynamo life

I don't like the looks, but I do like the specs & the price

Seems odd. We have two of these and that's never been an issue. Does you thigh rub the mount or something? Could you invert the light and still have it visible (I've done this to clear saddle bags before)?

Dynamo lights?
Second hand Exposure (we are still using 2 or 3 from ebay) or one of their helmet lights with a handlebar mount (I have a Joystick and Diablo, both bought new for just over £100 each I guess)?
I just checked and the Maxx-D V3 we have, I bought used off ebay in 2014!
Same year for the 2010 V1 version of the Strada we have - but this one is commuting only, it wouldn't last a full night. -

How long has it lasted? £20 seems insanely cheap!!

Thanks all. Lots of excellent options there.

Cross post from the rack thread:
Does anyone have any bright ideas or pointers on how to have a quick release mount for a standard light on to a Pelago commuter that wouldn’t foul a pannier if I tried to attach?
Current thinking is to use a p-clip with a female garmin mount bolted on, and male garmin mount stuck to the back of the light, or bodge something from a cannibalised square light mount.Any help or pointers much appreciated.

https://www.instagram.com/p/C9fUVRTM5NV/ (in action)Unsure about the pannier bit. You could commision something but will be more ££. The seller has sent me pictures of prototypes holding larger lights directly on the rails of a Pelago rack.
If you want to DIY, maybe try looking at the myriad of GoPro mounts out there to mount on the front of the rack.
Perhaps you could p-clip onto something like this..

Did your rack come with the Pelago light bracket? That and a Restrap/Paul/Origin8 light mount would work together?

• #5772
I used a Knog PWR Trail when commuting through pitch dark lanes in rural Essex and it was great (actually bought two of them, so I had a spare battery if it ever ran out). I'd thoroughly recommend.

Exposure Strada front light is rattling in its handlebar mount. Visually it all looks ok, but what tends to wear, the replaceable triangular cleat or the handlebar bracket?
-
• #5774
A new triangle cleat fixed my rattling Exposure Strada. Friends have had similar issues with other models and replacing the cleats seem to have fixed it too.

One of the forum ultra people recommends them, too. Frank?
Has anyone got spare kryptonite lights mounts like these:
