Definitely the right key. I've had a pretty good look inside and can't see any obvious problems with the discs, key seems to go all the way in. It's only a cheap station bike so I don't think I have any pics. Cop shop is just down the road so I think I just tell the duty officer

But with trigger shifters your finger and thumbs are already in the right spot and you click. Thumbies you need to move you're thumb up and push or pull.

• #124079
Not if you flip the shifter under the bar you don't.

Fair enough. Can't say I miss indexing gears on commuter bikes though

What is the diagnosis if you can read a word, can say it and spell it but can’t physically write it
correctly? We obviously can't diagnose you on here. As you say you wouldn't pursue it further, this may be pointless information, but here goes:
There are specialists in Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) among which 'dyspraxia', as mentioned, falls, and you should be able to find someone for a diagnostic assessment in Ireland. Many people never get diagnosed when at school and only do an assessment much later. I'm afraid I don't know if you can get an assessment for free or if you have to pay.
From what you're saying, you may not be dyslexic (many people have a mixture of these conditions), but quite purely dyspraxic, but they would tell you after the assessment.
Getting diagnosed is mainly important for people whose condition may affect a job they do, or, say, have trouble with manual form-filling (not so relevant any more in the days of Internet forms), as having a diagnosis makes it easier to get reasonable adjustments made for your condition.

Now this is definitely touched by religion.

I struggle with faidh (it’s an Irish thing) I can spell it, pronounce it but if I try to write it down I just completely fuck it up...Any internet diagnosis welcome
If it's just some very specific letter sequence which is tripping you up and the rest of your writing is fine, then it sounds to me like there isn't an actual problem other than a training issue. I'm sure all of us have little stumbling blocks where a sequence is similar enough to another one that we fall into the pattern of the wrong one if we don't concentrate. Fluent handwriting relies on "muscle memory", which is fine when it works but because it relies on shortcuts it's susceptible to miscommunication between the brain and the hand.

I'm I a bit like this with the word "document".
I read, write and say it fine, but always type it wrong. Yeah, I'm sure its a training/muscle memory thing.

Right but that's just the same issue with your finger as with your thumb isn't it?

It works like a trigger shifter with finger and thumb if it's under the bars, Shirley

• #124087
I quite like that the position of the lever gives you some feedback, rather than the virtualised up or down decision of trigger shifters
That you need to move your fingers into position first doesn’t really matter that much, it only takes a moment, and it’s not like you’re shifting every second or anything

When was the transition from two wheeled suitcases to four? Feel like I've completely missed out.

I noticed it with our clients about 10 years ago but it’s been a thing much longer than that.

what are the derailleurs and what speed?
Wheeltop EDS off aliexpress would be tempting. GRX 2x10 is pretty cheap if not

Thanks - may well go down the GRX road.

Car hire from Athens airport. And car hire in general. I’d like low excess/really don’t have to worry about a thing insurance cover. And a car that can fit 4 adults comfortably for a 5 hour drive.
I’ve looked on sky scanner and stuff, but I’m unsure about the various providers/suspiciously low prices.
What do people usually do when looking for hire cars? Just trust the deal finder websites or is it worth going with enterprise or whoever for ease? -

If it helps, we hired at a suspiciously low price on Santorini last April. Something like €40 for four days. So it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s dodgy.
(we only really needed it for getting from the airport and back and all taxis/transfers were starting at €50 return)

The best way to get low excess cover is to buy a policy from insurance companies that offer these, which is much cheaper than buying it from the car hire company.
This price comparison site will find you the best deal:

But you will have to pay the rental company first, and claim it back from the 3rd party provider, so You will need lots of money in reserve.

I’d say more like 15 years ago. 20 years ago it was still somewhat of a novelty, and 10 years ago I’d have expected to see more people pushing their luggage than pulling it.

Get third party car hire insurance from someone like Questor. They sometimes exclude particualrly dubious companies with loads of claims so check the T&Cs for that.
The cheaper ones tend to be more inconveniently located. May need a shuttle bus (or sometimes a random mini bus) to the lot and back so consider that if you may be short of time either way or are landing/dropping off late/early.
Sounds like one of the discs hasn’t reset and the key isn’t seating fully. That or it’s the wrong key 🤷♂️
Take your phone with pics of you and the bike. If it’s on bikeregister, even better. Use PPE since thieves hardly bother other than obscuring their faces.
