  • used a murder weapon (the car) in an aggressive way. Fuck around, find out.

If we’re advocating for all dangerous drivers being summarily executed by armed police I could get on board with that.

  • I don't think their are enough guns and bullets for that.

  • Daily Mail forums must be quiet today.

  • Plod were clearly aware that the wankpanzer had been involved in a shooting incident, otherwise they wouldn't have sent an armed posse. He was trying to ram his way out, so had both hands on the wheel at the time, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to be concerned about what might be in the glove compartment. Although they didn't know who was driving, it clearly wasn't someone's old Mum, they tend not to bugger off at speed or ram cop cars.

I am no apologist for the cops, but on this occasion you can appreciate their concerns.

  • Bring back hanging, but even that's too good for them.

  • Using car as a weapon, then I could go for that too.

But does feel like reform.plc policy.

  • Body, in a wet suit found in Welsh reservoir. Might have been there for 8 weeks.

No one reported missing, and asking if anyone saw and any associated things around.

  • That could equally apply to me - just swap the gun for a picture of a bike box

  • Ignoring this thread for a few days. It's worse than reddit..

    So much this

  • What if it was the guys brother who's stayed out of the gang his whole life, just started an accountancy apprenticeship, can't afford a car and was lent that one by his sibling to get to his first big out of town client meeting? Point is people panic behind the wheel, we can't just shoot people who don't stop for the popo. This situation was entirely manufactured by the police, if they didn't want to fear getting run over, don't walk in front of the driver that's trying to escape.

    Etc

  • Threads imploding in on themselves are the life blood of the forum.

  • Yep, and I stupidly got myself dragged into it. The last couple of pages should largely be in the Conspiracy Theories thread.

  • What in hot hell judge dredd is this thread. Anyone defendng a street side execution of anybody should be ashamed. The verdict was arrived at because Blake convinced the jury he shot to stop (and protect) and killed by accident, which – as others have attested to here given proximity, training and proficiency of AFOs – is unlikely.

Car was identified as connected to a violent gun crime, but driver was not identified. Officers took a risk to assume therefore that Kaba (unidentified) was in some way a threat due to associated likelihood for presence of a firearm. IMO the risk that the FA officers took was unacceptable given that there are multiple other protocols to deal with the sort of situation the officers found themselves in (where a vehicle is being driven away, not at officer).

And no, stopping someone with lethal force to avoid a chase is not an acceptable action. The litmus for this is if the officer had been found to have shot him in the head deliberately the jury would have likely returned a different verdict.

Guns dont kill people, etc etc.

  • Is this post satire? Such flawed logic in almost every word.

"If you don't want to get murdered by car drivers trying to run you over, maybe you shouldn't stand in front of them. Check. Mate!"

  • It's fascinating that this issue is absolutely clear to so many people, but in completely opposite directions. I can't work out if that's a sign that the answer really isn't obvious or that people are just bringing their own biases to it really hard.

Can I ask what you think the purpose of armed officers is if not to confront people who might have lethal weapons and/or have possibly recently been involved in violent crime?

  • Your premise is the guy having guns pointed at him was trying to attack people with his car rather than trying to get away. Watch the video, it's on every news site, they actively walk in front of his car

  • Your argument was a thoroughly bizarre 'what if' fallacy.

I've watched the video. The police were trying to stop him and he failed to comply, before aggressively maneuvering his vehicle in a way that put officers' lives at risk. You are somehow pinning the blame on the officer for standing in the way of a criminal who is trying to get away!

Do you believe that people should stop for the police, who have clearly identified themselves?

He had a chance to stop, he didn't because he's a hitman for a well-known gang who had recently carried out an attempted execution. Logic would say that he would do anything to get away (including running over plod).

  • It's fascinating that this issue is absolutely clear to so many people, but in completely opposite directions.

    I thought the same.

Another paradoxical part is that his criminal past wasn't reported at the time as the police couldn't have known it was him driving, yet was revealed after to 'calm emotions in the community' or something like that.

As if it's OK because a bad guy was killed, despite the fact they didn't know it was him at the time.
    (Small edit for clarity)

  • Isn't the main difference here simply whether you believe the Police (both generally and these police in particular) act in good faith. Many have very good lived experience reasons to not give them this benefit.

  • I can't remember the last time when this much Fan fiction was written on here when a cyclist
was killed. It's usually just casual "oh noes" and "rip rider".

  • No.

The comments are littered with people expressing skepticism about police who also think the jury's decision was reasonable.

  • The main difference to me seems to been those who characterise the events as being the work of UK police death squads who routinely carry out summary executions using vibes and/or a magic 8 ball, and those who don't.

  • The car was tagged as linked to a firearms incident. The guy was in 67, one of the more famous Drill groups with plenty of naughty boys in it. He was well-known and had history. He wasn't just some unknown.

There's clearly an argument to be had about where the line is regarding lethal force. It's also clear there are significant problems regarding the conduct of some police officers, particularly in the Met. However, the childish ACAB idiots, who will immediately go against the police at every given opportunity do not help the situation. I'm sure that I read recently that there was a month where there were zero applications to join the Met for the first time ever. That's not going to help the situation at all.

  • The guy was in 67, one of the more famous Drill groups with plenty of naughty boys in it. He was well-known and had history. He wasn't just some unknown.

At the time he was unknown, when the officer was pulled the trigger it could have been King Charles driving for all they knew.

  • At least this wasn't all in the memes thread this time....
