Not entirely on topic, just found the eldest's maths homework. Apparently it's okay because it's not marked by the teacher.

A friend of wife has asked me to do an abstract painting for their new house.
The brief was simple. She sent me some pictures of the countryside and said I’d like your interpretation of this.
Thing I’ve started this as a base before I start throwing paint around and actually really like it.
If it isn’t obvious that’s tree tops not grass.

1st collage
Made from bits of rave /reggae posters that appear on a boarded up church near me.
Fave track when making it - deep burnt Pepe bradok got 3 rewindsQuestion. How would I go about sealing it in ? Don't really want to use varnish as it's to shiny and clean up is pain.

Hairspray?

Real nice
I never varnish or seal collage, part of the charm is the ‘unfinished-ness’ :) -

Matte varnish? I recently made a record shelf unit thing out of ply - varnished it with a dead flat varnish that basically doesn’t look or feel like you’ve varnished it at all.

This sounds interesting what's the brand ? Is it easy to apply without a it leaving brush marks ?
-
• #2289
👍. I kind of want to seal as some of the paper is quite flakey and has the wheat paste residue flaking off
-
• #2290
Won't that leave a sticky residue??
-
• #2291
What a great idea, it looks amazing!
You could use some water based matt varnish, easy to clean and not shiny.
-
• #2292
It shouldn't do. It is what I'd normally use if I wanted to fix drawings that had been done in charcoal or pastels. You can buy proper fixative spray from an art materials supplier, but it differs little from hairspray and is about four times the price.

Ah nice one didn't know this does it give a shine or is is Matt??
-
• #2294
It doesn't give a shine. Once it has landed and dried (a matter of a few seconds) you won't be able to see it at all. Your collage will retain its raised edges, but it won't come apart.

'Do you still like bikes even though you're not allowed to ride them?'
'Yeah, sure...'
'Good, I did you this'

Oh yes, this is great
Abstracty type shit. It's meant to represent the looking out a train window as Graff and tags go flying by.
