I like the Lorus Lumibrite ones. I got this one for 30 quid from Argos. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2535975?clickPR=plp:1:22 It's the perfect watch really. But the battery has run out. The strap is a bit cheap and cheerful, but that's a good excuse to change it for one of those manly James Bond stripey ones.

Have always quite liked these and now got one on the way, it’s a version before the current ones that you can get in so many colours. As usual an impulse buy, so not much research was done! It’s on the jubilee but looks quite nice here and on leather. We’ll see, hopefully materialising tmrw.

can't remember ever knocking an Oris design

They have produced some questionable ones. But then I guess we all did some things in the 90s that we’re not proud of

That actually looks perfect! I'd never heard of Lorus but seems to fit the bill perfectly and @nick_h. approves too

A lot of these look like Mumbai specials. Especially the kermet and the quad chrono monstrosity

The thing with four pushers isn't a chronograph, it's a football themed watch with counters that increment when you push the buttons, for goals, number of fouls and number of corners.

Thing is if JLC had made it it would be the most sort after time piece since...

So that's not a masonic compass, it's a corner! :-D

Lorus is Seiko, which I think is a good thing at this price range.
Recent talk on this thread I agree… brands can go a bit too death-by-committee / fashion / faux-luxury.
At least nobody is going to steal a Lorus off your wrist.
I’d say the boy-size field watch is the F-91W of field watches.

Bertuci (spelling?) worth a look too

the boy-size field watch
Do you mean the Lumibrite one I linked to at Argos? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2535975?clickPR=plp:1:22 Some people say it's 37mm, some say 35 or 36.5. Maybe it's the same watch measured in different ways. Is there a bigger, adult-sized Lumibrite version?
-
• #79342
No no I meant the one V501 sport black dial I own which is quite small. 31mm claimed.

Great to meet you! Wear in good health and look forward to the obligatory pic!

It's for my son. Will be very merry by the time he sees it.

I love this. What size? I used to own the „baby blue” 40mm version and moved it on as it always felt too big. 50m WR with screw down crown was odd too. Great aesthetics though.

Ouch, didn’t need to see that 😂

Lovely guy and very amendable.
Don’t discount Lorus as a great value option.
The boy-size one gets inordinate wrist time recently. They do a titanium man-size too.
