  • Our local pool had them for a while. People were meant to use them and put them back in the dispenser as they weren't disposable. Lasted about a week as too many idiots used them and lobbed them in a nearby bin when done.

The pool took them away and did two things instead:

    • staff challenged every single person who appeared poolside in outdoor shoes (either making them take their shoes off, move back to the area where you can have outdoor shoes on or, for some elderly people, give them some shoe covers)
    • upped the frequency of the floor cleaning in the changing area where outdoor shoes can be worn

I'd prefer it if they brought back the foot dip pools between the changing rooms and poolside that couldn't be avoided (unless you spoke to staff and got let in a side door). At least that stops anything that bare feet have picked up from getting into the pool.

Some placs (CenterParcs and Sportoase Philipssite Leuven IME) have changing cubicles with two doors - one side is to reception and the other to the pool. Provides a clear place to take your shoes off. A bit confusing the first time you use it though.
