  • That first Seiko is nice indeed

  • Damn. Only 200m though.

  • No ! The dimensions are wrong, the bracelet and clasp are wrong too.

  • Ah interesting. Thanks. That first one is not quite my cup of tea but I think the stainless bezel on the SRPL09 looks like it may make it wear smaller. I’ve always liked the style60s vibe it’s just always been a bit bigger than I’d like.

  • Edit just found a blue Citizen Fujitsubo on bracelet for $296 USD brand new after trying one on yesterday at a Citizen outlet. Forgot to photograph the blue but I liked the black one enough to give it a whirl for that price. Sick and tired of my Apple Watch.

    It was outrageously light.

  • Yes, I think Citizen produce the best quality cheap (sub £500) watches these days. Seiko are too busy thinking of themselves as a "Brand" these days and their costs outweigh their very average quality.

In fact, I think a part of Seiko has lost the plot, they are producing dozens of ugly watches at just above the Casio level, but 5x the cost. Their low-end catalogue is bewildering, and even the GS range is looking like a directionless explosion of models to me.

  • Yeah the silver bezel seems like it could change the look a lot. Next time I’m in I’ll check it out!

  • To be fair that Fujitsubo didn't start it life as sub £500 watch, more like 700-800 rrp
I was thinking to buy bracelet version from Gnomon but seen too many complaints clasp fails
Because titanium too soft or something

  • If you’re genuinely interested at $300 lmk and I can send one to the UK.

  • Pro Trek supporting an active lifestyle today…

  • Hodinkee sold to WoS

  • Social Clymer's self-aggrandising announcement on Hoodwinkee is absolutely toe-curling, by the way, if you're into that sort of thing.

  • Wait. I thought that site stopped being relevant long ago.

  • Finally a twin quartz joins the family!

  • A great example.
    Bracelet just about right.

Just noticed it is "elastic". So once regulated to size it'll adapt to your wrist.

  • I do like those thin and slinky Seiko bracelets of that era. And the Grand Quartz ones were quality.

  • Not Grand Seiko yet as you can see on the slow motion video, but quality is top

Bracelet is quite thin indeed and since 1978 is been holding the watch like a hero.

Wanna try a dark leather strap.

  • Hmm, running a bit slow?

  • Just lazy. Moves hands every now and then 😂

  • Found one in John Lewis today (sorry for terrible photo). It is noticeably smaller than the previous Style 60s models, if not by all that much. The dark brown dial was actually pretty nice, definitely nicer than the blue. The bracelet is a surprise hit, looks and feels good. Think it would be a comfortable watch to wear. I like the size a lot. Still not totally sure about the date but it doesn’t spoil things.

  • You win. I totally assume you didn't go into JL to look at watches, but there you are, not only looking but giving one a go ... Bravo -- I will attempt to follow this attitude

  • Dang, that does look good.... Thank you!
