  • If you buy good stuff you cant just throw them out on even job, that's madness.

  • Oh i reuse if I clean them the moment I'm finished.

As of now though they are gone so just bin and start again with new.

  • Not washing brushes/rollers maybe is ok when you buy cheap shit that makes you angry because it's impossible to get a nice finish/job takes longer.
But in that case you're probably also into chipboard furniture that fails after 3 years, and clothing from shein that gets binned after 2 washes.

  • you said floorboards but show stairs - that doesn't matter, what does, is what they currently have on them.?. the timber is a bit of a state and the best part seems to be the centre where a runner was. But the timber has so much character that a semi gloss ebony stain (this will be fully opaque, no see through) will disappear the woods colour but show that character with the reflecting of light that a semi gloss does

  • You could buy new treads and put them on top of the existing ones, if they're fairly flat

  • I had a thought of linoleum toppers too,,

  • pine would be a bit nicer..

Oak if you can spare about £50 per step

    • Neighbour has had a load of concrete delivered.
    • There is washed residue on the road caught in a sort of dip that we have to drive through to get to our drive
    • the residue water leaves tyre marks on the drive.

. 1. What can I used to get rid of the existing concrete tyre mark?
. 2. Is there something I can put in the dip to absorb the concrete? - a bit like using sand when you spill oil
. 3. Is there a time period for it to not stain or adhere?

    Cheers

  • Everything should disappear with the next heavy rain I would have thought.

Depends how rich the concrete/water mixture is.

  • Just re-entered the DIY game as we've bought a house after renting for a year and I've really enjoyed catching up with the last year's worth of posts, some top work.

Particularly liked moocher's small hole in the ceiling! Does Hugo have a job though as he seems to be a full-time DIYer?

  • @Jameo there is nothing wrong with those stairs, they look great. You could just give them a wash with some soap and a hard bristle brush to remove some of the white dots (paint splatters?). You could remove some of the paint marks near the wall stringer. Or you could enjoy them as they are and go out on your bike instead.

  • And how much water does it take to clean some brushes and a roller. A lot. Please the paint in the water course.

I agree neither is ideal. But it’s the lesser of two evils

  • Put them on a 30 min washing machine cycle. Done.

  • Cheers. I tried to use a brush and water, but there are a couple of tread imprints that won't shift.

It's annoying as I knew I shouldn't drive onto our drive that day, but was exhausted in the evening and forgot not to.

  • Or you could enjoy them as they are and go out on your bike instead.

    This is the winning suggestion.

  • Please the paint in the water course.

What do you think happens at landfill?

  • Our local landfill isn’t landfill anymore they incinerate.

We don’t have to agree. I just throw brushes away. Less water and less water pollution, although not an ideal solution.

  • Most of it is incinerated now isn't it?

  • We don’t have to agree. I just throw brushes away. Less water and less water pollution, although not an ideal solution.

I would expect it takes a lot more water/pollution in the production of a brand new brush than it does to clean them.

  • This is a safe space: you can tell us that you just can’t be arsed!

  • But that happens somewhere else far away, so it doesn’t count.

  • corse it is,, always wash your brushes and put your ladders away

  • Not satisfied with the wall in the kitchen of my new house, I removed most of it.

    The door will go tomorrow.
