Not all T47s are created equal. Like PF30, some use inboard bearings some use outboard. So if you’ve got an outboard T47 BB kicking about it’s not much use in a T47 wide frame, I believe from memory that TREKs actually use the widest of the lot.
Although basing a build around an old BB is quite mad

That’s not strictly true, T47 is the thread size not the shell size, so you’ll need a different BB to fit the same chainset across different frames

It is pretty mad but that’s me, got all the parts and save getting more on now a parts buying that has escalated slightly and I now have 2 sets of Red Axs Etap shifters!
Along with a set of Rival which will be removed for a set of Reds

You're right sorry, spending more time reading energy efficiency stuff than bike things these days. External ones on a 68/73mm width will match up to internal on ~86mm if that's what it's expecting, externals on a wider frame might work for some big wide cranks with longer spindles but that'll be big tyred stuff.

There's a couple in this thread somewhere, will have to dig them out.
I think I should just be sensible and get the shorter stem and lower stick spacer thing.

First world issues, but would be my OG+ colour (as long as they still have it)

ISO Reccomendations for a 700c wheelset for my gravel bike. I want something that I can stick on for road rides, particularly in winter, but that can also withstand light bikepacking.
Doesn't need to be completely jank proof as I'd be using my 650b wheels if it's anything really rough.
Priority is light enough to be relatively enjoyable for road sections, but without losing all strength.
700c, thru axle, 11spd, disc.
Throughts on Dt Swiss RR481 or G1800 rims? Any off the peg wheelsets worth considering?

DT GR1600 is light enough and have the best hubs for servicing.

Anyone know of a T47 BB bike that is also an All Road..
Sonder Camino Ti use outboard T47 (shell is 68mm)
-
• #32213
I concur, not that light, but pretty darn reliable.
-
• #32214
I also am a fan of DT wheels and hubs.

If you're cutting pennies even the GR1800 sibling is very good and only a tiny bit heavier (not noticeably so either)

Change of plans. Looks like the Crux will live to not ride another day.
The mudguards of my partner's Sequoia fit on the Surly so I reckon for the sake of keeping a new gravel bike clean (I know, it's stupid, but fucked if it's debut is going to be out in this shit) I'm going to try and ride the 400 with the flat bar Surly. #prayforhippysplams
Anyone got some cheap aerobars? :)
-
• #32217
all this because crux doesent have mudguard mounts
spesh should be ashamed
-
• #32218
Stick some of these on the Surly
-
• #32219
Nah, it's more to do with the fact I've only ridden the Crux for an hour on the turbo and I'm still tweaking the setup (I had the chain off yesterday because of some fucking click, still not sure what it was, dust probably). I've got spare holidays so I'm more likely to debut it in Mallorca or Canaries or something rather than a mucky 400 in Essex.
Then again I might just sell it and buy a Madone.
Psyche.

Dafuq is that? One of those "road hoods for your MTB" thingies?
-
• #32223
all this because crux doesent have mudguard mounts
Tbf if you can afford a Crux you can afford new shorts every ride.
-
• #32224
all I hear is "I could have ridden the crux all year round if it had mudguard mounts"

Strange. That's certainly not how my money works.
I think it's the fact I still have knicks from 2006 (indoors/under something else-only to be fair) that helps me afford shit like the Crux.
That and my massive COCAINE IMPORTATION EMPIRE
Yeah, T47 is the BB shell standard, like you get internal bearings for square taper or external for hollowtech2 etc. with your older threaded BB frames.
