god the amount of times I've said this, finally someone else gets it
Does this mean you'll stop telling me now ;-)

I also rode an MtB yesterday and was terrified in a fun way.
Since it was Cathkin were you terrified of being mugged for the bike or…?!

Swapped the DHF/Dissector with Rimpact inserts for Michelin Wild Enduro F/R and noticeably more grip, more damped over the rocks, 700g extra weight and more rolling resistance on the tarmac home.
Much more confidence in the off camber high speed rocks - so happy with the change, and I also like the way the tyre patch looks.

.. no confidence on the off piste stuff as I've barely ridden MTB this year.

Yeah some it gets a bit mad. Not sure how I’ll get on on that stuff as I’ve gone full rigid now.

Went to Redlands today fully expecting it to be a washout from the recent rain, so I only took the eeb. Turned out to all be running so well and ended up doing nearly 30 laps and 1700m of climbing. If anyone says e-bikes don't get you fit, fuck off. My legs feel like they're about to fall off this evening. In contrast, my arms are fine, because I've taken out the entire fork innards and replaced them with a Smashpot and MRP Lift damper and it's like I've activated some kind of cheat code for grip.

Michelin Wild Enduro F/R
The front ones are amazing, I've got a stash of the MagiX ones. The rear ones are less impressive IME, they're neither that grippy nor roll very fast. I just used a front on the rear, because if it's going to be draggy, I may as well get some traction too

Talking of tyres, some spam

I went back and forth on that, might try it when the rear wears out. Chap in the shop recommended f/f.

Anyone remember The Collective? Found a copy of it and then found it on YT

Used to love this film! still got a vid file of it somewhere on my nas.

Yeah, I'm just going through all my backup CDs and DVDs and I've got tonnes of old cycling videos. I remember being pretty amazed by this one so I found it on YT. Will give it a watch at some point.

I'm sure there are just as many people interested in new tech tinkering as there are dead against it, but it's worth mentioning the Pademelon steering dampers are now available. I've been running one for nearly a year and have a hard time riding a bike without one on now. Don't work for the business but I'm happy to answer any questions people might have.

404 not found.

Interesting - so does it basically make the steering slightly stiffer in the first part of the handlebar turn? I can see how that might help with steering control on technical terrain.

• #28944
http://www.pademelon.cc should do it - I had the same 404 without it.
@Danimal - yes, the damping doesn't start until around 30 degrees in either direction. It sounds like it'd be disconcerting but its very intuitive. Really good in chunky rock gardens, rough corners, keeping a high-line and properly reduces arm pump on long descents. Very good stuff.

It's run by the guy that developed all the Rockshox Blackbox stuff, so no doubt it works well. Jack Moir has been raving about it for a while now, and that lad isn't slow.

Hi, anyone got a set of cheap 155mm cranks going or 155mm kids mtb cranks? Building a nice 26er for the oldest, just need cranks. Also anyone know a good place to get kids Full face helmets? For the little one this time! Thanks

• #28947
Yes indeed - quite a lot of riders on it now including Richie Rude, Luke Meir-Smith, Loris Vergier etc. Boobar knows his stuff, for sure!

Having recently taken up full sus life, my new bike (Canyon Spectral) has started creaking. Is this just to be expected on a bike with so many moving parts? I was momentarily worried that I had broken my golden rule and bought a bike with a press fit BB, but on checking it is BSA.

There’s certainly more scope for troubleshooting- as it’s a Canyon maybe check the frame first?
when he describes the puncture it took me a while to get what he was saying- the front brake wasn’t working because the tyre was spinning still on the rim even though the wheel was locked: fuck! also, on second watch I realised it’s the same women who walks away from the two huge crashes. In one sess? mad commitment.
