I agree with you about longevity - and part of the reason I'm moving away from Birks is that I haven't found a local repair option.

I like the look of the Mountain Clogs as well, but price and availability (along with questionable repairability on a mainland Europe) has kept me off them.

Will a general cobbler/shoe repair place not undertake it?

Not the ones I've tried before - but will take my battered pair in to the one who just did my Duckfeet chelsea boots and see what he reckons.
