• I wear shorts and keen nxt boots. Image isn't my thing.

  • Yeah already bought a new down jacket and will probably get a couple more coats, also thinking waterproof trousers might be an essential too…?

  • Ha not sure it’s my thing either but self image and all that.

  • My Speedgoat mid GTX have kept my feet mostly dry for the last two years mostly off road dog walking. I mostly wear them with mtb style shorts. I couldn't tell you if that combo looks ok or not. Only replacing because I've worn the tread almost smooth after a couple of hundred miles and as soon as it starts getting wet I'll need more grip. I'm not bothering to look for alternatives just replacing because they've been great. Really easy to sponge off and wipe down too.

  • Boot room/utility room dreams. Might just get an over flow shed with coat hooks

  • Definitely. For all the talk of the other half and kids walking the dog before we got him, if it's raining then he's only getting a walk if I take him out.

  • Also:
Your water loving retriever loves water.

Until it falls from the sky.

  • The other thing they don't tell you is that, for four months a year, most of your dog walks will be in the pitch dark. So nobody will be able to tell what you're wearing.

In any event, shorts and hiking boots is the uniform of the postman, and therefore actually quite cool - it's workwear

  • Just don't wear a dry robe.

  • Unless you walk on roads or manicured lawns your feet will get wet, period. Rain in both our seasons; the wet one and the wetter one, dew in morning and evening on the two days it doesn't actually rain. Goretex (other membranes are available) will fail, expensively. Just cope.

For those who don't give a fuck about their personal cool factor, Muck Boots Wetlands are the best wellies I have ever had for muddy conditions, the soles are superb. For everyone else, get two pairs of cheap trainers (I use Karrimor Summit) and expect to use several pairs of socks per day.

Do wear a Dryrobe, it saves people having to talk to you to work out whether they dislike you.

  • Our dog was 11 years old before he'd go out for a piss in the rain. He's like a cat when it comes to water, weirdo. It doesn't rain much, but when it does, it's monsoon, so you're getting drenched whatever you're wearing.

  • Can second muck boots. Easy on/off as they have good tabs on the back to pry off with the other foot.

  • Can third muckboots. Caved in and got mine from Sports Pursuit. Walking a dog in winter without them is no (even less) fun...

  • Doing what she loves best. Sun in the camera lens made it quite a nice photo.

  • Get some endura waterproof socks, they are the best.

  • I’ve got a small harness and waterproof coat and a big snuffle mat that I bought for Bailey when she was a puppy, if you’re interested in taking them off my hands you can have them.

  • I just had someone in the park try to fight me because Otto…was on a lead?

“That dog should be running about”

  • Thanks buddy that’s kind. I’ll PM you! Can’t wait to get out with her tbh. Two weeks till second jab though. I’m assuming there’s no shortcuts. She’s growing in size and confidence at an alarming rate.

  • All going really well here. She's absolutely full of mischief and fun. Toilet training is a qualified success so far and - unbelieveably - she took to being left at night no problem at all. Can't wait to get jab 2 and finally be allowed out and about. I feel like such a whopper walking into town with her in a friken baby sling thing.

Weighed her this morning and she was 1400g. that's 75% increase in bodyweight in 2 weeks. The little chubber.

  • Last two days have me seriously considering this get up lolz

  • You mean you haven’t got that already?

  • It’s in my basket but I dunno…
Having run out of dry shoes I’m willing to wear over the park it’s either very rational or highly irrational

  • You just need to accept the welly life I'm afraid.

  • I think wellies are the least of my problems right now
