Why is accepting tens of thousands of pounds of clothes from donors any different to accepting tens of thousands of pounds to decorate the Downing Street flat? I'm sure someone will make a case about declarations and process, but at the end of the day it stinks.

Does anyone have what Lammy said in quote? Not defending the original donation, but I'm not clear what Lammy actually said.

She's the democratically elected leader of a nearby EU country where a lot of immigrants pass through.

Neither are heads of state. Thats Sergio Mattarella (President of Italy) and Charles III
I agree about working politicans meeting each other regarless of their view points, talking is better.

Cheers.
It's one of those things isn't it, where in another capacity most people would take free nice clothes. But when you're trying to remove the stench of the last lot you need to do a 90Ā° wash not spray febreze.

Fwiw I think this story is easily put to bed if starmer stops taking, low level freebies, he could otherwise afford. He does have a whif of boris about him saying āI make a paupers salary as a leaderā. Heās been partial to them for years tho, so I doubt it will change. Itās all very treats for me but not yeā.
The fact his front bench/ allies seem so absolutely incapable of putting out a line which doesnāt:
A) suggest the tax payer gives them more freebies
B) utter amazement at the idea of āmaking a sacrificeā in context of their party messaging
C) seemingly be annoyed the journalist is asking them any question other than āwhatās your perfect SundayāThe eagle interview was wild to read. If you were being kind you could assume itās related to not wanting to defend starmers own, quite frankly, baffling comments about it in Bloomberg the night before.
seeing lammy and waugh have also flailed, it probably has more worrying implication's down the line when their unpopular decisions start biting. seems they havenāt got the charisma to bounce it off, or the Teflon like nature of the tories, to use up.
On the Italy thing it is funny how they promised a reset with Europe and then said no to student exchanges and Yes to racist border policy. We can see what European values they intend to pick back up.
Keef out!
