Cheers for this btw, yeah, I'm still kind of amazed they made it as it's basically my perfect watch, haha. There is some chat online about the dimensions but it's within 1mm of a vintage 44GS, and within 0.2mm of the SBGY / Omiwatari shape in all three dimensions and that's the best wearing watch I own. So I'm hoping it'll be basically perfect. Just desperately selling stuff to fund it now.

It certainly looks “perfect” in the pictures. It’ll only really be perfect when you put some scratches on it. It’ll look super cool after like 20 years of wear 😍

Oof, I don't even want to think about scratching it. 😂

Are these inflated Seiko re re s holding their value tho?
😬

I'm really drawn to this or the 2220.80 with applied indices

Hate to break it to you, but nothing holds its value except steel Rolex and Patek and Royal Oaks.

Anybody interested in a Seiko SNE573? Bought one recently but have an unexpected bill to pay off this month! Still new and unused in box, certificate etc. PM me if interested

I'm not even sure this holds true (at least for Rolex) any more.
-

Yeah but there's a slow devaluation and then there's a tsunami of loss that makes the RRP so hard to swallow a few years or even months down the road.

Just had the Seiko cocktail GMT pop up on my Instagram feed.
Not sure I understand a dress watch with a GMT, it's not terrible looking but meh

I've taken a serious bath on the most expensive watch I've ever bought.... a Seiko. Not even a Grand Seiko but I don't really care because it was a limited edition and I really, really wanted it. Part of my internal justification for spunking the cash was reasoning I'd never sell it, so what does it matter?
This is probably why I haven't bought anything else for a few years, strictly keepers. -

First time on the wrist in weeks for the Seastar. Managed to not wear the tough solar for a whole day.

It does for pretty much every steel Rolex except the Explorer, and even then they're more or less holding their value, they're just not appreciating.

Went out to get a strap for the Timex M25. Met a pet duck.

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy platform for selling some watches?
Mostly 400-500 secondhand value.
Vinted and eBay seem risky at this price point but marketplace for local collection isn't working either.

Three NOS straps picked up for the Timex. I thought red would be best to match second hand, but the blue and multicolour both look more in-keeping for the vintage.

I dunno about that - I agree that most will still go over RRP but if you buy get then I think you will struggle to get your money back (and that’s before taking inhalation into account). These are the (admittedly useless) price tracker graphs from chrono24 for the Sub no date, Pepsi and Daytona (model number picked at random!):
