Apple's latest cash on hand report is $60Bn.
That would put them 88th for GDP in 2023. Their income (~$384Bn in 2023) would get them into the top 40.
I reckon they can afford it. Not that it means they'll pay.

That was my conclusion as well, but ended up with a new latest model one as prices didn't differ enough to warrant getting something old. Buying through my company helped with that though, as I can deduct VAT on new stuff but not 2nd hand.
To me the choice between cellular or no cellular is more important

Although I am fully signed up member of Apple club, I think Apple watch is a duff product, great in practice but terrible awful battery life, I got tired of charging it every day.
Garmin defo better option for fitness use. Unless you REALLY want the exclusive Apple watch features.

Way out of my budget I'm afraid, but many thanks

I agree, the product is great but the charging every day killed it for me. I just stopped wearing mine.
-

Yup, agree. Phone has a similar battery life for me, but it's a non issue as its charging on my desk or in the car enough to never need a cable charge.
The watch, for natural reasons, is much harder to charge casually. Not sure double the battery life would make it any better though 🤷♂️

What about charging it overnight while you sleep? I normally take my analogue watch off at night.
-
• #21436
Works, but I tend to forget
-
• #21437
yeah but they sell it with this like sleep part to it also, so if you want that data for something you cant really get it.
2 day battery would be amazing or 3 instead of once a day.

This too, sleep data is surprisingly interesting
Speaking of, anyone else having very little "deep sleep" according to their watch? I get about 20 mins per night, which I struggle to believe. Googled it and it seems to happen to more people.
Also interesting to see the pulse bottoming out during sleep. Current low for me is 36 bpm, even got a few warnings from the watch

My SE2 lasts about two days between charges, though any workout use will eat into that.
If you want sleep tracking, the standard advice is to charge during your morning and evening ablution routines and you may be able to keep up indefinitely.

The new sleep apnea feature almost made me consider it ..

I got mine for the "keep an eye on irregular heartbeat"-thing after spending a day in A&E with stress-related chest pains.
-
• #21442
yep that too, the others like Garmin, Fitbit, Coros are just behind in those terms

Was sceptical at first but really value my Apple Watch. Agree battery life could be better but I don’t find it hard to fit charging into my life - I let it charge while I’m having breakfast, I imagine any other mealtime would work equally well.

Slightly off topic but I just spent half an hour fiddling with my Garmin and my phone to pretend I'm in the US and I've now had my first ECG. Apparently no signs of AFib. Woo!

haha amazing! which watch?

Fenix 8
I've had a Fenix 5 since 2017 and loved it. Felt it was time for an upgrade.

I am too stupid for Apple. How do I get the large icon for mobile data back instead of the Airdrop?

Pressed update on my iPhone by accident there, hopefully this isnt a mistake.

Press and hold one of those icons, hopefully it's visible in the bit that pops up and then selecting it will bring it back into the icons that are displayed all of the time.
Literally any Apple Watch will be fine for fitness stuff. Apple has been very good at maintaining backwards compatibility and there are very few interesting new features in the newer ones.
I was using a ten year old first gen until a year ago and only stopped because it suddenly died.
