Thanks! I got lucky. Also had to sell 2 bikes.
It's so nice. I really appreciate the 4 o'clock crown. Just had the battery changed but it was at a 10β¬ high street place. Not sure I want to take it swimming until I can be sure it's not gonna leak. Or am I being paranoid? -

Picked up my late father's 70s Longines Ultra-Chron from the Watch Service Centre in Clerkenwell yesterday. It was in a bit of state and not working having spent 20 odd years in a drawer. Now fully operational and looking much better after a clean and a full service.
Need to get a new strap with a gold buckle now but can't decide on black or brown/tan?

Ace, congrats!

Really lovely, is it solid or gold cap?
I think black or brown is a personal style choice. I usually go for black but something like a very dark brown textured goatskin could be really nice, eg

(But without the contrast stitches.)
Black Bough have some OEM gold plated Longines buckles by the way: https://www.blackbough.co.uk/product/longines-wristwatch-strap-buckles/

I actually think its gold plated - the old man was always a bit of a cheapskate ;-)
That strap is very nice and getting a Longines buckle would be a nice touch, god knows what happened to the original. -

It'll probably be fine but paid the extra because it's a 3k watch and I don't want to risk fucking it for the sake of 50 quid and I'm not even going swimming with it. Maybe I'm the one being paranoid

I wouldn't go tan.
Black or dark brown. Maybe a slighty reddish brown alligator depending on your skin tone.

A lot of those used to come on Black lizard skin but Epsom Calfskin has a similar texture but softer, less shiny and slightly more modern looking. something like this should look nice

Tough solar seems to live on my wrist now.
Came across this baby little Timex. 23571, so itβs a M25 Military?
Poorly condition but it ticks. Needs to go to someone who wants to give it some love, or has a case in good condition to swap.

My little sis has been doing some family history research and found that our great grandfather and his brothers had a watchmakers business, Turpin Brothers, in Finsbury (and later Islington) and she just found this for sale. Not a particularly expensive one but itβs part of our family history. Itβs now back in the family fold.
