  • The ursine likeness had not escaped me, more second row than svelte climber. Please DM me the link and a number for your tattoo artist if possible, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery.

  • I love this tattoo.. I would like to share this with my missus, hope that is okay

  • That's fucking ace Stevo.
I like Chaley's IWMHB idea too.

  • anyone had anything done by duncan x?

  • Yes, one piece on my leg. Was a really great experience, really interesting guy. Would recommend.

  • cheers! that's all i needed to know.

  • I had a dream once where I had a neck piece from him in the style of the Bayeux tapestry

  • Should go for it, yolo

  • Don't usually go for posting my own ink online, but thought I'd cautiously share my most recent work done by Sini Manu of Studio Tatatau which we finished earlier in the summer after 2 years of regular sessions.

I'm into super traditional blackwork (in appreciation of the artform of tattoo in itself) and this piece aims to be a respectful homage to the Samoan/Tongan Pe'a, one of the longest continuously practiced tattoo styles, pretty much unchanged for over 3000 years.

It has some key differences to the 'real thing', as agreed on with the artist, who's Tongan himself, to remain respectful of the cultural practices the Pe'a resides within as I feel it's important to approach work like this with utmost respect for the culture it's borne from. It continues around the front in much the same way as the back, with a small triangle left around the junk. Took probably around 70hrs-ish all in.

  • Holy shit man. Insane. Congratulations.

  • awesome and totally worth every painful minute

  • That’s absolutely mindblowing. Props to both you and the artist.
Needs straps to turn it into bib shorts ;)

  • Cool as a mf
    Very nice with the shading

  • That is insane.

  • +1 mindblowing

  • Hefty

  • . Top tip for tattoo longevity - don't play bike polo.

Haha! Yes I can confirm this. Have similar faded parts of my black ink on my arms which are from chunks of skin removed at Newington Gardens.

  • Who does good black and grey snakes? (Obviously Scott Move but LA is much less convenient than Finsbury Park so I've missed the boat on that).

  • I’m really happy with my snake from Malice, it’s not shaded though.
Mang at New Wave in Muswell Hill does epic dragons and snakes but often a bit more colourful.
    Shantitattoo also does amazing ones.

  • Not sure if this is what you're after but I think Adam Sage's snakes are really nice:

    He's at Old Habits

  • Thanks, I'll take a look!

@bens0n those are great but not quite what I'm after.

  • My danger noodle. We never got round to shading it. She’ll do my other pit soon enough so maybe we’ll do it then. Now my pit hair has grown back and it’s settled it doesn’t make much difference anyway.

  • That's nice! Bet it was spicy. Just had a look at those artists you recommended and again, really nice but not quite what I'm after. I think it would probably help if I could describe what I want a bit better...

  • Yeah I can never describe styles either, just have to trawl the gram till I find the right artist which usually takes forever.

Yeah it wasn’t the most fun but she’d already done from hip and my whole rack of ribs on that side so knew what I was letting myself in for. Wouldn’t have had that spot done by an artist I didn't already know well.
