Noice! Shower looks nice and spacious and having that plus a full size bath is dreamy. You won't be able to see the glass overhang when you're in it :P

What's that almost directly above the shower head? A light?

Bath isn't quite as wide as I'd have liked, but was the only way to fit everything in without incurring massive extra costs ripping up all the floor joists etc. It's also such a good feeling dunking with the window wide open; deffo the right decision even if my shoulders are a bit squeezed.

Yep, there's a light fitting 'in' the shower. The MVHR boosts automatically as soon as the room gets steamy and deals with the moisture.

Does your bath not have an access pannel?

Both bath and bog have removable access panels. Bath panel has been sealed with colour-matched Mapei silicone, I struggle to tell where the seams are.

Bog panel is on cleats as it’s floating and very heavy; yet to be sealed cos I need to dick about with the flush button.

we're getting a window/wall surround removed just now. My neighbour told off my builders because dust was getting on their decking. It's a very windy day and overall it feels like a bit of a moany git move by them - how exactly should we have prevented that?

Am I being unreasonable to be annoyed by them?

This is happening to me now but I'm the neighbour who is getting a lot of dust from next door getting the back of their house repointed.

They offered to pay to clean up once finished. I told them it's not really a problem as it's only dust and that I'd let them know if it was really becoming an issue.

So yeah I'd say they are being dicks but maybe at least offer to get the affected areas cleaned up.

Our neighbours had the entire surface area of their house ground back and re-pointed a few years ago, the dust was terrible even though the brickies used tarps to seal off the scaff.

It was all gone after the first rainfall, no real bother. Just had to keep windows closed for a few days. Live and let live. I’d say your neighbour is fussing.

When one of our neighbours was having concrete pumped there was loads of waste dirty concrete water that was then walked and driven all over our drive.

I didn't bitch to the neighbour or trades, but I whinged my OH and internally while I rinced off the drive.

Tl;Dr yes you (who are getting a benefit) are unreasonable for getting annoyed. But there's nothing you can do. Your builders are big boys. They'll survive.

Tell them to fucking get over it.

yeah it is annoying - but there's generally an expectation that you put up with stuff when it's unavoidable. Moaning to OH is one thing - moaning to the builders who can't actually do anything about it is another.

Ah I don't frequent the coffee thread but I'll have a look. No just a general view of the woodwork.

Full of holes and covered with some plasticky 80s varnish, but abuse it enough and it fades into the background - we had a bunch left over, some from kitchen rearrangement and some from bathroom reno where they used the same stuff.

Where's good for gates? I live down a little alley with 2 other houses and the alley is constantly full of litter that's blown in and occasionally filled with human waste. Hopefully a gate at the end will solve both problems. I don't know the exact dimensions but think garage door size.

Have you considered making your own?

I don't have the tools, knowledge or time unfortunately! Also, we're the only ones in the 3 houses that are renting so the cost would be split between the 2 home owners either side and our landlord. I'm keen to get something sorted to deal with the inconveniences I mentioned but I'm not invested enough to spend hours and hours sorting something.

^ I think it's a callback to door-gate rather than a serious suggestion.

Both builders and ourselves are very impressed with the windows (from Estonian company Klar). Incredibly pricing for triple glazed, timber frame alu clad windows.

Thanks! Was wondering if the door unit was a Klar; never seen one outside of their website. Would love to see some finished pics when it's done!

it's technically two units - the doors are made separate from the window above. I really didn't want to lose the height of the window. I also wanted them wider (but 100mm) but 1700mm was the widest door unit they did.

will definitely post more later
