  • It was but there are a lot of pissed off people as co-headliner Roisin Murphy cancelled earlier in the day a few hours before her start time.
People had flown in from all over Europe and beyond and had 3 hours of ‘Horse Meat Disco’ to endure before any talent arrived on stage, many are demanding partial refunds.

Luckily for me the ticket was free and I live 3min walk away, was only ever going to wander over for the grand dame anyway!

  • Anyone going to We Out Here next week?

  • Off to see High Fade at the Joiners tomorrow, looking forward to that.

  • Saw Squid at Moth Club last night, was nice to see them in a small venue. The other acts, Minor Conflicts and Tony Njoku, were really good as well.

  • Osees at Electric Ballroom tonight was very good and tempted to get a ticket for one of their gigs next year as well now. They’re also playing Dingwalls and Shacklewell while they’re over here which I imagine will be intense. The support act JJUUJJUU were also good, though they ended on two (very good it has to be said) QOTSA covers which seemed a bit random.

  • Oooh, missed this. Might try and snag tickets. Saw 'em at the Scala aeons ago and it was a terrific gig.

  • I saw them many years ago at the garage , also saw their "side project" band Servotron upstairs at the garage , both brilliant- need to get a ticket sorted.

  • Yeah, me too. Will probably have to wait until payday, though.

  • Thought I'd check out the ticketmaster queue for Oasis tickets to see what it was like. I was 268,000th. Crazy.

  • My mate checked and Ticketmaster (cunts) were mostly serving up 503 errors.

  • It's Britpop's/Indie's/Dadrock's Diana moment

  • I was 264,000th and 307,000th respectively for Saturday and Sunday in Dublin at 8:01am. Gave up on Sunday and joined Heaton park queue at 9am and was 48,000th. Currently at 12k and not feeling very hopeful for reasonably priced* tickets. Toddler and baby going crazy, wife losing her mind. Happy Saturday.

*I hear ticketmaster more than doubled ticket prices and called them in demand. How do I set up a competitor?

  • Just got tickets for Brian Jonestown Massacre tour in Feb '25. I'm going to see them at the De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill-on-Sea. So I'm looking forward to an evening of modernist architecture and wall of sound guitars.

  • So, Einstürzende Neubauten didn't sound remotely what I expected from Strategies Against Architecture I - they had actual songs, some of the band played actual instruments and the power tools seemed like they were just being used to keep the audience happy rather than to collapse the whole building onto us. Jury is out on how aware Blixa is of his own hilarity.

    9/10 would drill again.

  • Janes Addiction have split up again following the ‘on stage’ bust up in Boston. saw them at the round house a couple months ago and they were incredible..

  • When did this get introduced?

  • Yeah this fucks me off to no end. We have a massive stack of paper gig tickets going back to the 90s. It's only £3 but gig night with babysitters is already painfully expensive. Another £3 is a drop in the bucket but they used to be free. And they were already souvenirs, they didn't have to be fancy, but it was nice when the artist was big enough to get something non-generic.

    Fuck Ticketmaster.

  • Blame Spotify.

  • Fuck Ticketmaster.

On Ticketmaster - I went to download my tickets for last week's gig, and their website kept insisting I didn't have an account. Had to spend half the day exchanging emails with their IT guys before I could get into my account again. So lucky I didn't just bowl up to the venue and access my tickets there, which tbf is what I usually do.

tl;dr - Always download your tickets well in advance, Ticketmaster are useless, as well as being cunts

  • Always download your tickets well in advance

Very real example of this when I went to France a few weeks ago. Went to this place and for some unfathomable reason, they ask you to scan your tickets a second time, 100m underground, to get on the boats to ride through the cave.

My parents bought the tickets and swore blind they'd downloaded them so I didn't check. Turns out that meant they'd opened the link on their phone. Clearly this happens all the time because the lady had a laminated sign for an underground wifi hotspot so we could actually download them.

    Awesome place though.
