  • I'll be honest, I can't remember! They're a dwarf variety so possibly 'Amethyst'? They go green when you cook them though...

  • Good haul today. This is about a quarter of it. Nuff beans and other chillis too.

  • Those tomatoes are looking perfect

  • Turned into 1litre of blood red passata :)

Brined the currant toms with some biquinhos and shishito for a few jars of anti pasti.

  • Do you filter out the skins or just as they are?

  • For passata? Roast with some garlic, chilli, chives and basil then smoosh it through a sieve with a spoon to remove skins and seeds.

  • Nice! Our toms aren't ready yet and everything else is looking a bit sad.
Put some more brassica seeds in and also put a bunch of beetroot and rocket out.
    Been enjoying lots of raspberries.

  • Today’s chillis are nice.
Saving the orange Caribbean in the freezer for a sauce once there’s a few more ripened, used some snakes in the passata.
Drying the big red basques and will grind for powder.

  • lol I have not, maybe next year :)

  • Allotment been a bit of a disaster this year. Beans either got eaten or didn’t germinate, 12 cucumbers and none made it. No carrots germinated. 5 squash eaten to death one (accidentally germinated in a pot of homemade compost) has survived. Was away in the hot spell and the potatoes really struggled, none have been particularly productive. Good old sweetcorn had smashed it though, 4 nice cobs so far and a good 20 to come. Chickens love the little ones which don’t really get to edible size.

  • What can I get planted now?

What can I plant that give me some ground cover? Weeds are very easy to spread on our plot

  • Field Beans (a bit like Broad Beans)

  • Anything I can eat?

I’ve got some lettuce and leafy mix. But concerned it’s all going to get eaten

  • I’ll probably try some autumn king carrots and maybe some beetroot.

  • Anything I can eat?

    Leeks maybe?

  • Yes! That’s the stuff

  • I’m probably pushing it a bit with both but if we have a few good weeks for germination hopefully the carrots will get big enough to pick through December.

  • Potatoes, leeks, spring onions, mizuna. Get some green manure on like clover.

  • You’d probably turn around a crop of radishes fairly easily as well.
