Interesting. Unfortunate that James Purnell was mentioned, as it triggered me. He is everything I loathe.
It's just New Labour recycled isn't it, with private interests marching the government around? Appointments like Varun Chandra are awful.
Tend to think that Dominic Cummings was right about the civil service. If we had one that was effective, we wouldn't have private interests filling the competence gap and diverting things in their own interests.
