Is there a dashcam out there that can send footage (or a low res cached version) to your phone via app or similar? A system where you press a button on the camera unit and it saves the previous 30/ 60 seconds and sends it to an app on your phone? I know it would require a wifi/ data connection between the dashcam and phone but it would be good if it could store marked clips on the unit itself until you connect to your phone via hotspot or whatever, then pings the marked clips across.

Seeing some stuff about a crowd called Nexar that could offer something like this but seeing mixed reviews on the actual products.

I like to review minor infractions when they happen around me on the road but taking out the micro SD card from the Nextwave I have is a fiddly pain and then the whole process of mounting the SD card on a computer etc. so I end up not being arsed.

Has anyone else had the sticky pad that affixes the dashcam mount to the windscreen fail over the summer due to the higher temperatures? Have had mine fall down quite a bit with the car parked in the drive and sometimes it sets the alarm off. So I've taken to taking the camera unit off the mount when I park up. Is it a case of replacing it with equvalent 3M sticky pads?

The answer to both is Garmin. Their Drive app let's you view and store camera files and view a live feed from their dashcam on your phone via a WiFi type connection. Their sticky pad is good, I drive all day in London's famous London and my first sticky pad was good for longer than I kept the van.

I think I'd try cold to embrittle the plastic first, stick the shelf in the freezer overnight. Getting it hot will just make it stickier

TBH, I'd probably just throw it in the bin and buy a new one, they're cheap enough that it's not worth spending an hour on.

I’d also say just buy a new one, but a makeshift chisel, an angle grinder w/flap disc, and 80 grit sandpaper would make relatively quick work of it.

Environmentally it’s probably better to chuck it.

As a follow on, we can only really justify having one car so are left with choice of keeping an 08 Passat with 150k on clock or a 67 plate Berlingo 1 careful owner, low mileage (tbc later today).

I am the main driver (only really use at weekends/holidays & for tip & allotment bulky transport) and really like the Passat but it has a few quirks so feels the Berlingo is a no-brainer as the keeper.

Is there anything I might be overlooking about modern berlingo's? Our 53 plate one was solid but was leagues away from the passat in terms of comfort etc.

Don't most insurance policies have a 14 day cooling off period? If you can front the cash you could just sign up for a year's worth of insurance, use the car and cancel the policy within that 14 days.

I wonder if the cooling off policy still applies if you were to pay monthly? So essentially sign up for a year, pay for the first month then cancel the policy within that period.

Which engine? The DV5 16v Diesels can go bang in an expensive way for which you won't be compensated this far into the life of the vehicle. I don't think they were in B9 Berlingos, but I'm not certain. If you're safe from that, I've had nothing much to concern me over the course of six Berlingos, and I think in many ways the B9 was the best.

I can look at that too. For 1 day it is £30 and much less admin time than applying for & cancellation of policy & seeking refunds etc.

On the V5, line P1 will say 1499cc and line P2 will say 75,88 or 96kW.

Never had any issues on any version, but I very rarely have more than 100kg in the back.
