Man Utd ‘don’t have the players’ to play like my Ajax side, says Erik ten Hag....(Oct 23)
Quite how many former players does he need before they can?

It's a fair observation in so far as, yes he seems to be sticking with players he knows. I think "cop out" is unfair, I mean Mourinho at Chelsea simply brought over his Porto squad.
That's all very well, but how many of these players have improved since 2019 or since United signed them? The players Jose brought in had just won the champions league and the majority of them became Chelsea legends.

I tend to think Ten Hag was/is hoping the same would be true for the players that followed him. Because it's yet to come to fruition doesn't change the fact that it's a tried and tested method of building a good squad - go with familiar players.

Mourinho brought in players that proved good enough for the PL, who's Ten Hag signed from Ajax that's succeeded, probably only Martinez?

I heard on The Guardian Football Weekly that city are 14/1 to get relegated. To perspectivise this, Liverpool are 2000/1.
In other news, Adidas are really smashing it with the kit release videos this year. Leeds and Villa both had great ones, but the new Newcastle one is such a nostalgia fest. Cheesy as it is, I dig it.

The 'Free why aye-fi' sign and nobby solano's trumpet are personal highlights!

So far only Martinez, I would say.

14/1 is incredibly short odds. Yikes.

We can only dream

Should it really be Ten Hag's job to do that?
For most clubs they've got a whole team to find transfer targets

He wouldn't be the first Manager / Head Coach to say "I want to buy x player".

Kelvin Phillips could be a big signing for Ipswich, but also demonstrates how much his stock has fallen.

Nice to get the (Pl) season off to a traditional spawny utd last minute goal start.

We've got you on a Thursday night for some reason this year. Fixtures have really been conspiring to stop me getting back for more curry in recent years.
Could see Farke being an early managerial casualty.

it's been a joy not to hear mark chapman, chris sutton and robbie savage's voices for the last 2 months

Strongly agree. Chris Sutton is absolutely the worst.

We've got 7 of our League One team starting today and a keeper who didn't start a league game last season... it might be a difficult afternoon.
Fair enough.
