  • Nice. Now make it in 1deg in winter :D

  • For that one week I will probably have to use some petrol tbf…

  • Here's what I got. My D-Max was in for its 30k service today so I was out in the STi, 100kms of pure awesomeness and no CEL. My client had a great time, we opened it up a couple of times, whooooosh!

    Car Scanner ELM OBD2
    DTC report

    Raw code: 001593
    ECU: Engine control unit[Archive (inactive)]
    Status: Test failed since last DTC clear
    Camshaft position (CMP) actuator, exhaust/right/rear, bank 1 - timing over-retarded

    ============2==============
    P0123
    Raw code: 0123
    ECU: Engine control unit
    Status: Pending
    Throttle position (TP) switch A/accelerator pedal position (APP) switch A - high input

    ============3==============
    P0301
    Raw code: 0301
    ECU: Engine control unit
    Status: Confirmed
    Cylinder 1 - misfire detected

    ============4==============
    P1693
    Raw code: 1693
    ECU: Engine control unit
    Status: Confirmed
    Turbo Charge Control Circuit Malfunction

  • Hmm, that sounds like it needs a good service at the minimum. New plugs at least. The codes related the timing are but concerning. *Not an expert

  • Yeah, I'll take it back to my regular mechanic. The timing belt is way overdue so really wanna get that out of the way ASAP and he can check everything else while he's in there.

    He was happy with it when I took it in to him right after I got it, he bled the brakes, changed all the fluids and gave it a full once over. I'm guessing he would've checked for fault codes but I don't know for sure.

  • Often said, what is a good service as opposed to a bad service?

    Often wondered what people mean/expect.

  • I wouldn't be too concerned about the camshaft error. The DENSO Ecu is top piece of kit for OEM. I ran my Impreza with the DENSO ecu re mapped to run 400plus BHP along with water meth injection.

    It does however fall over at times and at high revs throws camshaft and timing cels.

    The belt would be my priority, I went cosworth because it was blue lol. If you are running higher boost then the plugs need to match.

    I wish I had my Subaru back......

  • Some times the sensors need a plug and unplug to help remove built up corrosion and the tips a wipe as crud accumulation can affect the reading.

  • Ah, Yep, forgot that, I think the camshaft sensor relies on a magnet that doesn't work too well if covered in crud.

  • True, should probably say "thorough" service, or in dealer speak, major service. All fluids inc transmission and diffs, plugs and yeah, cleaning of any corrosion from sensor plugs and definitely the timing belt.

    @midlife
    I currently have a "Prince" derived EP6 engine in my pug 308 so any timing codes fill me with fear

  • I was more worried about det, had AFR guage and det detector. Eventually had AVCR to handle the boost.

  • talking of DET and Subarus

    Pulled this out of cylinder 4 on the Group A Legacy I Co-Drive in, haven't pulled the head off yet to see what else has let go yet

  • Ask how I know ;) I'd clean the whole area of the sensor at least a couple of cm around and the spot pick up.

    @TRA am just talking, I have cars with grease nipples still. To me a thourgh service is a replacement of all consumable liquids and filters. Checking the bits that wear and things like engine and suspension mounts. Sort of have an idea how the bits are.

    With a prince engine, regular camchain changes and tensioner ...but the bore wear shouldn't be an issue with regular oil changes and never letting the oil go low.

  • Driving up steep, rocky, unpaved island roads in Greece in a Peugeot Partner Tepee 1.6l with a family of five really makes me wonder why anyone owns an SUV.

  • Oh goody. This again...

  • You should consider one. Fits me fine at 6'3.

  • Can we move on? It is boring and tyresome.

    Also are the greek spec'd vehicles higher ground clearance than the UK?

  • Shall we talk about Audi TT MK1 3.2 then?

  • Can we talk about how much it's going to cost me to fix the tracking on our van to dial down it's uneven tyre wear pls

  • Where is the uneven tyre wear on the tyre.

  • tyresome

    I see what you did there.....

  • Recently flogged an Audi TT 1.8, make sure the haldex system has been serviced every 10k and that has been done properly with the pump cycled.

  • Made me laugh.

  • Do the 3.2 suffer with the same 4cyl 1.8t oil pick up blockages.
