Soooo. I have had two customers get back to me about their Symmetric 1L cages. When doing off road and jibby stuff the "stop tab" can bend. We have all seen how Stridsland treats his bike. His a grade A product tester 😂
So far I have only used the sideloaders myself and they don't seem to have the issue. And the same with the STD cages - no issues here. So my thinking is that the Symmetric 1L cages grab the bottles a little less than the 1L sideloaders, and because the heavier bottle is not kept in place by an upper tab, the bottle can move back and forth in the cage basically acting like a hammer.
So I have been working on a dimpling tool to give the lower half of the 1L cage a bit more stiffness to withstand the forces.
I don't think the STD cages need the same action, but maybe I end up liking the expression and decide to do it on them as well. We shall see... Still needs some work.. but I feel confident that next batch will be this new iteration.
