Isn't the key question can you smoke while doing it?
Though I do have a friend who got through a few B&Hs while doing a Double Ironman.

I've been helping one of my clients research his family tree. Both sides of his family go back to Norman Lords. Gislebert dit Van Gent on his dad's side and Gilbert De Venables on his mum's. Bloody fascinating.
He's directly related to Charlemagne which means he's also distantly related to King Charlie via Prince Albert. #csb

Which one have you never done?

Is this your line of work, Ron?
I used findmypast during Lockdown to research my family tree. Only managed to get so far back as records dwindled.

Take pills and do sports?
"I fucking love you man, let's not race, let's just sit here and ooh feel this track on your bare feet!"

There's a bridge and a pier named after a great great grandfather of mine in Scotland. I find that pretty cool. When my grandad died, my dad took over his family tree research. I've taken pictures of our family name on headstones in a bunch of cemeteries for him :D

It is only an issue if you are an animal abuser, then fair game.
By the way I believe being ok with animal torture ( to the death) makes the person open to any and all abuse.

No, just a little project I started with a client that has mushroomed into something overwhelming but pretty amazing. His eldest daughter is expecting her first baby in a couple of weeks, we're putting together a first volume that documents the last 300 years of his family tree (and a few of the greatest hits from beyond that) to celebrate the birth of little Louie.
We've gone back almost 2,000 years on his mum's side and over 3,000 years on his dad's. It's mental. The final 'book' will comprise of nine volumes, it's all a bit terrifying.
I can't even go beyond my grandparents. 😐

Yeah, but is he a posh cunt?

Common as fucking muck. Bogan as, m8.

I'd suggest if there are records going back that long, then they definitely have 'posh' ancestry. Either that or lots of major criminals. Although the two aren't exactly exclusive...

Some Kiwi who shares our surname researched the family tree and found we came to Ireland as mercenary Dutch knights with King Billy in 1691. Then she died, and nobody knew how to get in touch (pre-internet days)and find out anything about the research. But there's a former pub somewhere near Enniskillen with a stained glass window of the family coat of arms. Saw a photo once, but can't remember what's on it, other than the family motto - 'Arte et marte' (rough trans. 'culture and violence').

Maybe the surname used to be “Gardens” and the famille just decided to ‘posh it up’

I'm descended from the De Havillands, great grandmother's maiden name is the anglicised and shortened version Havill. Havill street in Camberwell is named after one of my ancestors. I'm from Sheppey so definitely not posh.

Most of his family tail off after a three or four hundred years (which is still fucking amazing IMO), it's only when you hit an aristo that the trail hots up and once you get into royalty, like his does TWICE, you're on Easy Street.

We’ve got a pub named after an ancestor in ‘Treasure Island’ which is pretty cool. Same guys got his mug carved onto one of the buildings at the naval college as well.

Next, reform raising funds for the suspended cop incoming with dubious accounting?

Proud to say there's 0% royalty in either of my bloodlines. You're all posh wankers in comparison. :)

We have Scottish in our Dutch ancestry from 1660 Might be a guy trying to escape the religious wars in Scotland around that time.
My french husband descends from 300 years of farmers. He did find a few decorated soldiers as offshoots of the line.
Me? 300 years of farmers and fishers.
Lots of Fitzwilliams in Ireland too. The posh cunt here is your man that got lough Neagh for free as his ancestors got it for killing people here.

A mate of mine's a Morgan, a descendant of the actual pirate of rum brand fame. They may not have his face carved there, but they'd have gladly had his head.

I can't even go beyond my grandparents
My family tree becomes untraceable once it hits Northern Spain...
If it depends on physical ability, this opens up more things than I would consider sports to be one - including darts, bar billiards, shove ha'penny etc.
