They created a camera that will be well received amongst IG crowd/blogosphere and create desirability whilst not spending much to develop it. I’m sure their profit margin on each camera is considerably higher than on a digital equivalent.
It’s interesting they opted for half frame as viewfinder will be vertical a la IG/TikTok and the economy of 48/72 shots per roll offsets some of the high cost of film.
I wouldn’t buy it but I like that it’s a curve ball from otherwise dull and repetitive camera manufacturers
I've come full circle - I really want one. I've just decided to get rid of my XA3 which I've had hit and miss results with and quite fancy one as a replacement; mostly for mountain walking and anywhere I don't feel like carrying other cameras. XA3 shots below as a contribution.
