Best of luck to all doing DD this year. Couldn't make it this year so hopefully see you in the next one.

Heya, doing the DD tonight for the first time.
Having last minute anxiety about how much water to bring.
Reckon I’m alright with 1 bottle?
Anywhere to fill up on the way?
I guess petrol stations if nothing else.. -

1.25 litres for me but I guess it depends on if you drink a lot on rides (I don't). I'm sure they'll be places to get water but near in mind if there are a lot of people doing it then they might sell out.

Is there a reason why you'd want to instead of just taking 2?

Taken from the DD FB page. Food stops on the way. Gosbeck hall at about 84 miles has a good spread last year and were really nice people to chat too.

Amazing, thank you!
Hadn’t seen that.Phildas, I only have 1 bottle cage haha.
And I’m just looking at my giant Carradice thinking Do I really need to take all that?

I would try and find another way of taking more, maybe a stem bottle holder? Other than clothing, water should be the priority. All the best!

I'm trying my hardest to NOT take every bit of clothing I own this time. 😂
The weather actually looks pretty warm and dry all night, so about the only thing I'm taking that I won't already be wearing is a jacket.
Rest of the waist bag will be crammed full of gels and jellies. 😁
No flask full of beans and sausages this time.
Trying to keep it as light as possible as the plan is to ride back. (legs allowing)
Two 750ml bottles here too. -

2 bottles it is then.
Thanks all.Happy riding!

G'luck to all riding. I think it is going to be a sweaty night, if today is anything to go by.

I'm fighting this too. I was cold on the beach at sun rise last year so had planned to take many layers but as it's much warmer this year, I think I'm down to just a jacket (now with plans to HTFU though the night)!

Had to bin it off this time. Couldn’t secure transport to be back by noon

Where are you guys meeting up in London fields
-

giant Carradice
Could put a sealed bottle in there, and top up the one on the bike as needed?

• #66
Good luck everybody! If I wasn’t in Wales this weekend etc…

Ride well and ride safe all. Lovely night up here in Suffolk

Well the beach looks crap in the dark I must say! 😂

Someone post some pics or a write up, dreaming of doing this ride again some day!

Ditto, I watched streams of smiley faces heading out on LBR last night as I trundled home. Hope everyone had a nice time.

2nd year in a row, I've had to enviously watch waves of riders going down my street on their way out of Hackney. Looked to be a big Brompton turn out and at least one penny farthing.
...hopefully, the stars will align for me to do it next year. -

Was a very speedy dynamo this year, quite warm, a little muggy, but lots of fun. Got there at 6 which was two hours earlier than I'd done before.

I've always been a bit leery of the dynamo but did it for the first time and it was really good and I plan on doing it next year. 44/16 was a good ratio.

It's always fun seeing all the riders heading to the beach when you ride back to London, but fuck me I'm destroyed!
I had a 6h 17m ride there, and somehow still managed to get back in 6h 27m despite following a route that had several fuck ups in it that I didn't realise. 🙄
20 minutes of stopping time going, an hour coming back, although some of that was trying to sort a slipping brake lever and find water when nowhere was open.
Everything hurts, but I'm glad I proved to myself that I'm still just about capable.
It's definitely more fun riding with at least one other person.
The ride back was really hard without that bit of support you get from riding with someone else.

Yeah that's more like I remembered. 👍
