  • I totally agree, but I also don’t think it’s much different to some of the laughable showing off/statements of wealth that are a daily occurrence in the house extension thread these days.

    A Macan is without doubt a next level cunt car, but live and let live, innit.

  • I mean, this is my point. Everyone is different. Shapes, sizes, wants and needs. There is no need to drive hate based upon somebodies like or desire.
    This is the kind of shit which gets us cycling folk tarred with the same brush by cunt drivers because they once saw somebody go through a red light... 'all you lot are the same'.

    Of course we should. You're supposed to know that. Have you heard of sustainability? Perhaps you haven't read a paper for 20 years?

    They need winter tyres to get decent grip but melt if driven enthusiasticly.

    Faux 4wd with rear diff issues unless has regular oil changes.

    Look at the ved rates as they can be very high.

    I don’t enjoy sharing the road with the type of massive cuntwagons that the SUV-ification of cars has lead to the proliferation of, and trying to discourage demand for this kind of stuff is, imo, fair on a London cycling forum.

  • In the grand scheme of things, probably no difference at all (except a few zeros), but you’d likely have to deal with a lot less people taking issue towards your vehicle of choice, that’s for sure, especially on a cycling forum.

    I was only commenting to point out the irony of someone who posts regularly about their particularly extravagant house extension taking issue with someone posting about the fact they are considering buying what is undeniably a particularly extravagant vehicle.

    No matter what car you buy, you’ll always encounter someone who takes issue with it, so you do you….. just don’t be surprised when you catch some flak for posting about it on a cycling forum that clearly hates SUV’s.

  • Cycling in London, I have issues with fuckwits in the cars rather than the size.

  • Without having driven one, I have no illusions about it being more than a 20 year old basic Honda.
    Wouldn't buy a 4wd version.

  • If you are one of the SUV shit filled drivers doing the school run and parking/stopping on the school clearway I should be allowed to rub my shit in your face.

    I feel the same about parking on zigzags by zebra crossing.

    Irony of comments was missed as context wasn't there for me. I'm not sure how it ended up being a "nearly-new Porsche SUV" per Ecto, it's 8 year old and ultimately just an idea at this stage.

    But points taken; I should have gone to Piston Heads.

  • Thought they were all the hydraulic 4wd like the honda CRV.

    Used to buy them with the rear diff issue, then do work to fix the issue (was a three hour job with the car running)

  • I'll be easy to spot then. I'll be the guy giving you, my fellow cycling, a wide pass at an appropriate time. (If you ever come to the Wilts/Somerset/Dorset border..)

  • It's having more power than you need. Buy an adequate hatchback with a 1.4 or 1.6l engine instead of a 3 litre twin turbo which does 0.60 in under 5 seconds. In other words, take the big dick energy out of car culture, grow up and be reponsible. Recognise that Top Gear is not a documentary. Change your habits without waiting for nanny state to force you. The next generation don't have enough time to wait for governments to stand up to oil and car lobbies. It takes 10 or 20 years to force change. But many individuals can change their habits right now. It's just gobsmacking that so many individuals who can afford a sensible car are still making fucked-up, selfish, ignorant choices. They have all the information at their fingertips. But they think that buying a sexy car is more important than condemning people to death.

  • I agree, and go further that most drivers get in to the boxes and become utter cockwombles.

    Recently (pastyear) driving at 20mph in London seems to cause so much rage in other drivers. Not racing to the next red light seems to cause anger.

  • If you care about acceleration, then look at electric car acceleration.

    I disagree with you, as driving a vehicle is a privilege. You are taught to pass yet the majority of the drivers don't see this. There is the first issue. Look how many hours it takes to pass the driving test in Germany compared to here.

  • Just spotted on my way to work, behemoth doesn't quite do it justice. A gargantuan machine, Ford F-650. First one I've ever seen.
