  • Might as well, it's the only thing I think/talk about now.

  • Don't, speaking from bitter experience

  • Anyone got a round bathroom sink similar to this? Good idea or no?

  • Too small to wash a face in, if anyone in the house does that.

  • My personal view on those sinks is strong no both from an aesthetic and practical perspective. There's just more room for water to spill onto the vanity unit which = more cleaning

  • Absolute no. Cba to list all the reasons why.

  • Standard sink it is, cheers.

  • We have a round sink on square vanity, can’t say it annoys me as much as the old one that had sloping inner with the sink the same size as unit that meant water ended up on the floor.

We don’t have a cleaner unlike Tenderloin ;-)

  • A couple of months ago, some cunt tried to break into our house with a crowbar. They didn’t get in, but managed to split the (nasty, non-original) front door.

Whilst seshing the bog a couple of weeks later, I got an eBay notification for a Victorian front door which EXACTLY matches our neighbour’s original. This is after 8 years of looking for exactly that. Blessing from jah.

It’s now fitted, with new vertical hardwood frames, AQ21 weather seals routed in, 4-point auto lock and auto drop-down bottom draught seal a-la @dbr.

    Now paralysed by colour choice…

  • We've got one, from Victoria Plumb. Main thing was to find one that's big enough. I like it.

  • That's going to look amazing - super lucky with getting matching door! Fluted glass looks nice as well. With the colour of your rendered plinth and lintel, I'd be pretty tempted to go all No.10 with black.

  • Thanks! Yeah, the fluted glass was long to source in argon-filled, toughened, warm-edge spacer form, and long to fit (had to build out the inner side of the glazed edges with various beading profiles as the double glazed units are much thicker than the OG single layered glass), but looks nice.

    Leaning towards a dark aubergine:

  • Oho. Well now we're cooking.

  • I'd colour match to the yellow drain pipes out back...

  • RAL1017 Saffron Yellow is on the cards, but I reckon might be too showy for the front of the house. I’d like to let the (future) front garden planting to do the talking…

  • Just realised - the aubergine next to the green might look a little Hulk-ish. Sommat to think about

  • Why do you know so much?! What even are those things?

  • What colour was mine when you popped round? We did yellow at first but it got grubby and it wasn’t a traditional Victorian colour so changed to a muted green, not sure if you care about tradition or not (I’m trying to keep the front traditional).

  • Pics plz!

Think it was yellow when we had a gawp…

  • Black door. Black surround. Brass hardware.

  • I had a yellow door at my old house. Little green mister david. It was expensive but only needed 1 small pot and it was a delight to use.

  • Ha, exact colour I had, I went Matt and regretted it.

  • Give us an image from the whole street facade and we will decide by majority!
I also think the yellow could be cool, ties the whole thing together. Depending on colour of lintels keep the frame light

  • This looks excellent. Thinking about refurbing our very leaky original front door, did you do the work yourself? If so, more details on how you added the weather seals and sourced the glass would be much appreciated!

  • There ya go.
