• A couple of months ago, some cunt tried to break into our house with a crowbar. They didn’t get in, but managed to split the (nasty, non-original) front door.

Whilst seshing the bog a couple of weeks later, I got an eBay notification for a Victorian front door which EXACTLY matches our neighbour’s original. This is after 8 years of looking for exactly that. Blessing from jah.

It’s now fitted, with new vertical hardwood frames, AQ21 weather seals routed in, 4-point auto lock and auto drop-down bottom draught seal a-la @dbr.

    Now paralysed by colour choice…

  • That's going to look amazing - super lucky with getting matching door! Fluted glass looks nice as well. With the colour of your rendered plinth and lintel, I'd be pretty tempted to go all No.10 with black.

  • Thanks! Yeah, the fluted glass was long to source in argon-filled, toughened, warm-edge spacer form, and long to fit (had to build out the inner side of the glazed edges with various beading profiles as the double glazed units are much thicker than the OG single layered glass), but looks nice.
