  • Yeah I thought they looked quite good value. With unknown motors I’d call local ebike friendly LBS’s and ask if they have personal experience, or if they know of anywhere to service them. I think that would be my main concern if it was to break or need servicing.

Worth emailing ebike service centre (formerly performance line bearings) to see if they can overhaul them too.

Have you checked out the available accessories?

I don’t know the spec or price but have you checked out the decathlon cargo bike? Afaik their after care is pretty good too.

  • Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, good idea, I'll look into the serviceability of their motor units and speak to ebike. Thanks
The decathlon ones have very mixed reviews it seems - sometimes just fail for no reason by the look if it. It's hard to find reviews where somebody has actually ridden the Planet X one!

  • From a brief poke around on the interwebs the Ananda motors seem to be fairly well regarded. Nice punchy mid drive def more appealing than the hub drive decathlon motor.

I’d pay attention to but be somewhat cautious of online reviews of cargo bikes, people are incredibly mechanically inept and can break almost anything, then are very vocal about how useless it is 😂.
