I thought it would be ideal for carrying inner tubes. I keep a spare inner tube in every bag I commute with (backpacks, mussette-messenger and Brommie bag) and would rather it's on the bike. Not too keen on a saddle bag.
You can also keep one inside the frame :)
I've seen that trick. I saw a guy using cling film and talc, which looked like a faff, but if it works I guess?
