The perspective and colours blending in that pic make the stem look extra long.

Put a jubilee clip around the suspension block and tighten it to make the suspension firmer.

Saw an insta ad/post by Condor recommending some of the more 'official' or first-party upgrades you can do to improve your bike and save weight. The new, slimmer, lighter EZ wheels were in there.

Would be useful if I shared the link: https://www.condorcycles.com/blogs/journal/easy-lightweight-upgrades-for-brompton-bikes

Anyone know where or how to get the pointless triangle bag for the Brompton?
-

Also interested. Found some third-party ones online. Might ask someone to make one for me.

On the subject of wants just asking for a friend .... I sorry they ...will at some point replace the seatpost have seen some carbon and some aluminium ones like woodman which would save a lot of weight but the tube is very long so are they all good or are there safety concerns is titanium the one apologies for lack of punctuation and thanks

Are you saying your friend wants to change the seatpost from the steel version to a carbon or titanium version?
The original Brompton titanium seatpost had issues and recalls before it was discontinued. 3rd party titanium seatpost are fine especially the ones on SJS.
I would avoid the carbon ones as they will wear and break eventually due to the fact they’re not designed for sliding up and down on a daily bases.
Hope that helps.

Cue Brompton carbon seatpost. Do you trust that thang?
-
• #15438
Probably the Brompton version of ‘carbon’ but that’s two material into one and the weight saving isn’t amazing. You’ll be better off with Brompfication ti seatpost which gets rid of the clip and a lighter saddle which will save you a loads more weight than any carbon seatpost.

I was thinking of the 50-65 quid (black costs more darn it) ones on Amazon. I think they might be lite pro branded? They're definitely shipped from the far-east The standard seatpost when slammed (up not down) is the perfect height for me. Many/most of the ti posts I've seen are of different lengths, which is annoying, or they're very expensive.
My 'no-sus' suspension block has arrived. Will give it a test this weekend!

Is this a bit of a bargain? I know its old, but it looks well looked after and that maybe its got a dyno as well.
-
• #15441
it is not
there is a sweetspot curve of when brompton gets too old/sub-£500 but is false economy
someone should make a chart for this @sbbohr
false economy because there are plenty of parts that would need replacing and that you pretty much have to buy from brompton, not cheap plus the cost of niche service like sleeve replacement and rear hinge replacement

Sticker suggests it might be one of the ones stolen from the rental lockers.
It has dynamo lights and wiring (possibly cropped) but no dynamo hub.

Fair price, pre 2004 is swb and lots of old components. Best models are post 2017, no real component changes since then.
2012 was the year they added spider style cranks and better brake levers

Testing the brompton for potential touring missions, feels ok

I'm very interested in this! Planning to do the same. I've got a 6sp on the way to me and I was going to get the same front bag. What saddle bag is that and what water bottle setup please?
-

Cool! the bag is carradice odyssey (the xl one)
The bottle cage is iirc this one from sjs (https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/bottles-cages/alloy-xl-bottle-cage/). Its mounted on a bike backing bottle mount (secured with electrical tape). Works fine with a nalgene and folds fine.
Edit: this is the mount (I dont use the velcro thing)

It is indeed pretty pointless.

What do you fit in yours?
They flex so much it seems like it’s about to snap.
Incredibly noisy while riding
