Most high tier cargo's are in this price space now. Even the big guys its very low volume per country.

Have you had a look at subsidies etc? I'm attending a "cargo bike showcase" in Hammersmith on Friday to promote take up of cargo bikes. The council are pushing a scheme by an organisation called MP Smarter travel that offer up to £2k off the purchase of a cargo bike. Might be worth looking in to if you haven't already, whichever bike you decide to go for.
Also, it looks like Paradise Cycles have the Bullitt X in stock for £3,099.

Yeah thanks. I know a few of the folks at MP smarter travel and there are some local grants here too, but from what I've heard it's a long slow process.
Very much early exploratory stages. Just find it hard to drop anything over £1000 on a bicycle (or anything for that matter). Which I think coincidentally matches my expense on a omnium nearly a decade ago.

I'm in need of some guidance. I'm planning on getting rid of my car and replacing with a bike for school runs, trips to the shops and general use around town. I've tried both front/rear loaders and prefer the latter. Kids are 4 & 2 and their school & nursery are less than a mile each way. It's the same distance to local shops.
I'd originally been looking at a GSD S00 but then saw the estarli longtail and I'm trying to work out how it comes in that much cheaper ... what am I missing - is Bafang vs Bosch that much of a difference? Otherwise both are belt drive with Enviolo hub, similar size, load capacity etc. Of course, I'd prefer to spend less where it's possible, but it would be my first ebike so think I must be overlooking something here.

R&M multitinker or multicharger. Accessories are cheaper than like for like on and with the enviolo, it works out cheaper.
R&M stuff also comes with Bosch smart system and their aftermarket support is second to none. -

I know you're Bristol based so might be worth having a look at this:

Speaking of has anyone put a Rohloff on an omnium cargo classic? 135mm, qr Vertical dropout, IS disc tab.. would need a tensioner. I guess I’d like to avoid using the torque arm if possible. If I do ever get my hands on one that is

They have ones to mount to the disc mount or the the special disc brake adapter they sell.

Sorry to sidetrack. Curious about this showcase in the borough as we have two cargo bikes working in the borough at least one of which we paid a lot of with a grant or similar.

Thanks, yeah I’m more curious to know whether anyone’s done it with success. IIRC There are some things in the manual that make me think it might not work to brace it against the omnom disc mount. Edit- I guess a speed bone might be an option true!

I think there are a few over the next few weeks. I need to talk to my contact at the council tomorrow anyway so I'll try and get some more details for you! I'm fairly sure it's open to the public but I'll have to double check.
It's mostly targeted at parents at some of the schools in the borough, to line up with some new school streets and a push to get people out of their cars and using alternatives for local journeys. -

I have to say, I'm very excited to see Olsen bikes new 26/26 wheel cargo bike finished. Looking great from the renders and he always has interesting ideas. The built in racks look great. 👍

We had another go on the Big Cargo this morning, only 2 miles, but only 1 attempt at climbing out. Once the wind was in Dolly’s ears she was pretty happy. (Still wouldn’t stay in shot for a photo though) The next ride will be to the river for lunch at the pub and a walk along the bank.

The timings didn't quite work out yesterday so I was only there for about half an hour so didn't have a chance to do much schmoozing. It was a fun event though, it was great to see a load of kids and their families get really excited about cargo bikes!
They're running a few more over summer, I'll post the dates here.
Gratuitous photo of an Urban Arrow next to a wild "walking bike" (treadmill on wheels).

Well we survived a trip to the cafe for ice cream (15km) Dolly only jumped out once, in her defence they was a rabbit about a meter from her.

Ha. That's Philippas treadmill bike. I took a pic of it either just before or just after when I saw it on my route.
Yeh be cool to see as we work on cargo bikes and work with the borough.

Philippa is the person to talk to about that! She's the one who brought me along in the first place. Have you had a go on her treadmill bike? It's bizarre.

Here is my 1st cargo bike, bought 2nd hand just last week. Moondog navy, it looks new from most directions.
Larry vs Harry vs Hamax V1
This is a conventional Hamax Caress, mounted backwards on the steering post. The caress reclines by 20 degrees and the photo shows it fully reclined.
Little one loves it, “talking” to me all the time. Works fine me for a short trip on safe roads. Her grabbing the brake cables is not ideal 😂
The next step (V2) aims to get it lower and correct the angle. Goal is to keep the suspension feature of the Hamax and the full range of motion.
Eventually (V?) I’m aiming to get it low down and forward facing. Perhaps I’ll switch to the rack mounted Hamax which has suspension too. I’d need to make a bracket of some sort.
Has anyone else succeeded in fitting a suspension Hamax in the cargo bay of their cargo?

Can you not just strap a car booster seat into the loading bay? That's what I have on my iumentum. Works great.
