In the last few years he's gone totally batshit.

Sky, however, is one of the most toxic workplaces to exist. To rise to the top, you have to be a very special type of cunt.

agreed. He initially seemed a benign one trick pony. Then his penchant for rinsing the system (expenses and wife employer at an outrageous salary) then his ranting on political shows showed his true colours

If you've read The Secret Diary Of An MP's Wife then Mercer fits perfectly in to that seemingly socially liberal but actually utterly arrogant and entitled upper middle-class set.

Postal vote delays could bar Kemi Badenoch from Tory leadership race
If the result in the business secretary’s North West Essex constituency is challenged because of missing ballots, she may become ineligible to stand as party leader -

Only after the GE will the truth serum really kick in for traditional Tory voters, they have accepted the long held view that tory policies would not and never will hurt them, that opinion has been held as long as I have lived.. the reality is that the UK continues to exist as a multi tiered society. The view of immigrants wildly differ between those with influence and those that in their opinion changed this country for worse. If they lived in my borough they will see how many have lost all hope, it is also multi generational, this endless state of austerity, lack of conviction, not serving the country before helping themselves..
The icing on the cake.. accusing Keir Starmer of becoming a part time prime minister, because he wants to maintain Friday evenings as important family time. Shabbat or not.. at least Starmer has called it straight, I admire him for that

Links nicely with the media drip feed from labour hq of support being broad and narrow as to why they can't be more radical.
Frankly though if you ask for a single reason that will always be it. Surely it would be better to question what labour policies do you support or what do you want labour to do.
Pretty much everyone is voting to get the Tories out, tactical voting or otherwise.
