I’ve had one. Things to consider:
- You have to pay a fixed rate of road tax (£160?) no matter age, emissions or engine size.
- You’ll have to use an insurer who specialises in Japanese imports, though this isn’t an issue.
- If it’s pre-2006 it won’t be ULEZ exempt.
- Clocks will be in km and litres.
- You’ll need to fit a rear fog light. Usually you can convert one of the reversing lights with a red bulb.
Personally, I wouldn’t bother with something that you can easily get on the domestic market, unless it’s something very obscure, rare, unavailable, all the British ones rotted away, special Japanese features etc etc.
