I used to do classes at the Royal Academy of Dancing in Battersea, they have a range of different levels and the teachers are really good. A colleague of mine goes to classes run by the English National Ballet and keeps trying to get me to go along - there are fairly regular taster sessions that you can go to.

I do lindy hop too, it's fun. Whereabouts are you based?
I am all the way in Birmingham. But I plan to drop buy some swing dance events or just classes elsewhere (like london) when I get a little more competent. Like I say, I think what is taught in our group is not all that inspiring.

Thanks for the tips Hats.
Might enquire after the beginner's class.Do you know anything about the Central School of Ballet?
They have nightly one-off classes which would be agreeably flexible but without a course structure. Seems better if I just want to try it out. -

I know someone who went to Central full-time but I don't know much about the evening classes. Go and check them out and report back!!

Will do. I'm going to rope in a friend who knows a little more about dance too so she can tell me if it's any good.

I have a spare ticket to the Royal Ballet performing Chroma tomorrow evening if anyone fancies it? 7.30pm at the Royal Opera House, cheap seat (somewhere near the ceiling), rubbish company (me)...

Chung, how did you get on at Central? How are the classes?
I learnt the 1920s charleston this evening. My god it's fun.

I love to dance. I really miss going out clubbing. Most of my mates are coupled up now and just don't fancy it any more. #getting old.
My wife never really liked clubbing anyway but we did learn a bit of rock n roll. I can only really find the Paris rock club in London though who does classes. I didn't find the teacher very good though.
Anyone know of anymore? It's all lindyhop and swing and I prefer the music and moves of rock n roll.

I don't know much about rock n roll (confessions of a lindy hopper...), is that stuff like jive? I would like to give that a go.

I’m resurrecting this thread, post lockdown I want to find a tap dance class, absolute beginner.
I am convinced no one on the planet today could deliver this routine in one take..

This made me smile

I am fascinated by jookin
It’s like time, gravity and physics don’t apply, draem901 is otherworldly.

Yeah that's great. Don't think my ankle ligaments will be up to it though.

I often go down rabbit holes of you tube dancing clips, Memphis Jookin just pulls many different elements into a really satisfying whole, with a grace and dynamism accentuated by some really slow movements contrasted with warp speed popping and locking.

This kid is incredible
Grade 1 ballet superstar here. I still remember 2 of the basic positions. Hells yeah. Are there any good adult ballet classes around?
