Which route out? The Sheffield Road way? I've never done that climb as it's full of traffic and there is no way I am suffering my way up that steep bastard whilst also being treated to a thousand close passes. Maybe I'll try it on a quiet evening one day.
I normally prefer to get back from Hathersage by going up Coggers. It adds a couple of miles and an extra 200 feet versus going via the Dale, but it seems psychologically easier as you do get the opportunity for the occasional breather. Whichever way you decide to go it's pretty savage though.
