  • I've volunteered to be an observer for election counting.

Sounds like fun, also sounds like I need a lot of caffeine that night.

  • Good luck. Try not to punch a reformer.

  • …more than once.

  • Try not to be seen punching a reformer

  • The Boss will be an observer.
He'll be turning a blind eye towards others punching reformers.

  • Good from the campaign team getting him on the Overlap:

  • Interesting analysis in the Comment is Freed election briefing this morning, which has the Conservative share of vote running at between 15-30% across all age groups. The key point is that you need to be achieving 35% or more if you want to win seats in a First-Past-The-Post electoral system.

There’s also evidence of strong tactical support for LibDem candidates in seats in the south.

  • I didn’t realise James Cracknell was running for the Tories in Colchester.

That head injury was way worse than I thought.

  • Colchester

Thankfully it looks like he's going to get nowhere.

  • Last 10 minutes of Sunak in last night's QT worth a watch. Jeering even as the credits rolled.

  • Posh boy Olympic rower comes out as tory shocker

  • With so many Don’t Know it’s clearly still all to play for in Herefordshire but given the incumbent had a 25k majority and pretty much 50% vote share, this is promising ….

  • That head injury was way worse than I thought.

    Lol,

My favourite vaguely celebrity related candidate from a Labour perspective is Veronica Oakeshott sister of Isabel Oakeshott.

I wonder which one was dropped on there head as a child.

  • Someone who is clearly a winner entering a contest he won’t win shocker, was my line of thinking.

I’m not surprised he’s a Tory, just that he thought now was a good time to stand as a candidate for them.

  • There's a level of delusion and self belief that also goes with being an elite athlete. Bang on the noggin probably didn't help mind.

  • Sunak came across terribly (shocker), and given the reaction today, I reckon the "no national service = no driving licence" gaff could have properly lost it for him. The "shame on you" chants were pure joy.

I did think Bruce was unnecessarily pushy on some points with Keir. The whole "why won't you put a number on immigration" thing was pandering to the worst elements of this election. As Keir has rightly pointed out before, the issue is too complex (and constantly changing) to be reduced to an arbitrary number. For her to keep pressing, then question how the new home numbers in their manifesto can be accurate if they "don't know how many people will be living here", was painfully reductionist.

  • It is honestly bonkers how quickly people jump to immigration when discussing the housing crisis, or even just supply/demand in general. There are more homes per capita now than there ever have been and the number of net homes has outpaced the population increase for decades.

(Edit: I still think there should be more, and better, btw)

  • I’m very sceptical of any polling that shows those that commissioned it in a favourable light.

People Polling, which is run by right wing gobshite, Matt Goodwin, had Reform second at 23% nationally the other day. The poll was commissioned by GB News. I bet they don’t anywhere near that come election time.

  • Think Bruce had an idea to push for detail, even if that meant nothing in reality. She did get the compulsory National Service thing from Sunak using the same process. Kind of obvious he was just making stuff up as he went, pretty funny. "Remove access to funds!" What a nutter.

  • Completely agree (and that Matthew Goodwin is a rent-a-gobshite) but happy to feel a little bit of hope that the 25k majority of the absolute disgrace of a Tory MP might be overturned, even if it is mirage of hope in reality

  • There seems to be no attempt to identify how many don't knows are actually tactical votes just waiting for the time to pounce.

    I know that's my situation

  • "no national service = no driving licence"

    Sorry, what's this? I didn't watch it

  • Ah authoritarianism.

This whole national service thing needs to be everyone or noone.

Also retired people have loads of free time, let's remake dad's army.
