The other midfielders. Gallagher, Mainoo and Wharton can’t find passes like TAA can.
So you either have midfielders who can’t do what he can do or you have someone who can make things happen.

I’m Scottish, so obviously hope you fail miserably and clearly sooner the better.
That team is probably your best 11 on paper, just foden played a bit shit and the tactics to just let them have the ball second half was a weird one.
Can’t see how Southgate can do more than that with what’s there really.

Yeah it was like
first half - try really hard and
second half - worry you've already overachieved

England aren't really a good enough team, and TAA's passes aren't that good, to carry him though.

This.

19th hole obvs.

I think Foden actually wasn’t given the ball enough, watching him specifically he was constantly is asking for the ball and most times doesn’t receive and he is visibly frustrated. I think getting him on the ball as much as possible will get England winning.

They won last night.

Well yes Wharton, Mainoo and arguably Gallagher have a more defensive capacity but none of them have the creativity or ability to use it like Trent does.
Englands biggest strength is the front four. Without the ball they are a waste of a shirt however as seen second half. So unless one of the aforementioned players develops an ability to find Saka like Trent did frequently you have to lose that cover to gain the actual strength of your squad.
Pickford going long won’t win this thing.

Belgian (next) golden generation, starting where the old ones left off….

• #169613
They shouldn't have played Doku out of position...

Thoughts on the 2nd disallowed goal? I’m not offering any opinion.

Harsh.

They didn't.

On a football pitch is his wrong position. Etc and so on

Left back. In the changing rooms.

France looking quite tasty early doors. Might give some tactical analysis shortly to annoy Andy, and reiterate that Southgate is a bit shit to annoy Damo.

• #169620
Missed the first 15 but this last 15 Austria have looked impressive. High press causing France all sorts of problems.

Look, as all the good commentators start their sentences with, you can only piss with the cock you’ve got. Maybe all these players we have are good and look better because they’re surrounded by better players and systems.
Who is foden’s left back ?
Does stones play with Guehi week in week out?Pickford probably looks forward to playing for England.
Southgate is fine.

• #169622
Yeah Austria looking much better now.
Oh my... What a miss.Edit - good save

In a perhaps less controversial topic - has Griezman got the most 'done' hair since Ginola?
-
• #169624
Good point, but I suspect Potter would get a better tune out of them.

Southgate is fine
He is fine, I don’t have a problem with him. But… I reckon Carlo Ancelotti would have won a tournament with this group of England players. That said, it wasn’t Gareth’s fault Kane skied that peno against France.
But Foden plays off the left for City.
United - off left
West Ham - different formation
Spurs - off left
Fulham - off left
Wolves - off left
That’s as far back as I’m going.
