Conventionally, the headline would have been written by a sub-editor, usually without any input from the writer. With a 'celebrity' columnist, who knows.
It's a lovely little dog-whistle in any case.
(ETA - given that 'schnorrer' is repeated throughout the article, I don't think blaming the sub will wash)
